Nativ, featuring ex-members of Attack Attack! have written an introduction on the new band and an update on new music. View it below after the jump
Greetings friends!
We wanted to take a second and introduce ourselves to all of you.
We are Nativ!
Yes, it is true that some of us were members of Attack Attack!, but let us take a minute to clear the air.
As we’re sure you all know, Attack Attack had some serious shit happen to it through its career. Band members coming and going, tours postponed and canceled, and a host of other crazy-ass things that came with simply being AA!
I think you guys can all agree that by the time the final AA! tour came around, AA! had been looonnggg gone. We were dead on arrival.
Having taken that into account, we certainly were not finished making music. Not by a long shot.
So where did Nativ come from?
Well, part of the decision process in letting AA! go came from working on an album.
Wetzel and Whiting had started writing for a new record back in September 2012. By the time January 2013 rolled around, we were demoing tracks with Phil and Tyler. By February we had a solid album starting to take shape.
During the months of April/May, we took time off from writing to say goodbye to AA! on our European and US headliners.
When all the touring was done and we had finally put AA! to rest, Will joined Nativ to help us finish recording our debut record.
Originally, we thought we needed to write another AA! record, but what we found out was that we really wanted to write an album that is something new and different. We really wanted to take a step in a new direction. Get a fresh start.
We wanted to make something that wasn’t AA!. Something that AA! could never be.
So here we are!
We’re very excited to show you what we have and hopefully you will enjoy this experience with us even more than you/we did Attack Attack!
Thank you for reading and we hope to see you soon!
Love and respect,
-Nativ
Famous Last Words will be releasing their debut full length record titled “Two-Faced Charade” on April 30, 2013 via InVogue Records. The album is produced by Joey Sturgis (Asking Alexandria, We Came As Romans, Attack Attack!) and features 12 new tracks from the band. To support the release, the band will be touring the whole month of May with Crown The Empire and Capture The Crown on the “Generation Now” tour.
You can watch a trailer for the album here: http://youtu.be/0pABNaAA7UE
Beartooth, the band fronted by Caleb Shomo (ex-Attack Attack! vocalist!), headlined their first show but are still getting their name out there the old-fashioned way without a label; house shows. The band is currently doing a run of them and I had a chance to chat with Caleb about CLASS, his old band, and his studio.
You can follow the band on Facebook, as well as Twitter. You can follow Caleb on Twitter as well.
For the record, what’s your name and what do you do in the band?
Caleb Shomo and I sing.
Let’s talk about your roots. I’ve never been to Westerville, Ohio before. What’s it like there?
Westerville is amazing. Very chill neighborhoods, great friends, and good times.
You’re headlined your first show with Beartooth; do you feel like you’re starting out at the very bottom, or that you’ve already started working from an established base?
Well, I guess I have some sort of foundation from my past experience in Attack Attack!. I’ve been touring since I was 15 and fronting a band since 17. Definitely makes the stage a lot more comfortable for this new project.
You said in your statement you’re on good terms with Phil Druyor; any chance of you guys touring together in the future?
I’d love nothing more!
Do you currently have a working album title for the record?
Not really; possibly Fear the Tooth? Just been making songs for fun and it’s all been coming together quite nicely.
Did you have any guest vocalists or was it all you behind the mic?
So far, just me. I’d love to get some other singers on the record though!
You said in your AltPress interview that you’ve been doing electronic music since before you joined Attack Attack!, what inspired you to make an EP?
Honestly, I’ve just always love synthesizers. That and I like loud music and having a good time. I want to bring the vibe of a hardcore show to dance music, NOT at all musically, just in the sense of the energy of the show and the vibe. I love energy and just going nuts. I generally treat a CLASS set like I’d treat a show I was fronting for a hardcore band in many ways.
Will we ever hear an extended version of that dubstep outro from Lonely made into a CLASS song?
Haha, probably not. I was very young and not too good at making EDM back then; all about the new stuff for me.
Any chance you’ll do some solo acoustic material? You had a song (Apathy) that was pretty good.
I actually have written songs since then. about 3 or 4. i just have kinda kept those to myself so far. very personal songs.
How will you balance your recording studio and being on tour with Beartooth?
A lot of working. haha.
What’s the most interesting thing about you that has never been revealed in an interview before?
Not sure; I feel like I’m pretty open in interviews. I’m left handed? haha
At this point in your career, is there any uncharted territory that you haven’t been able to get to yet?
I want to play in japan more than anything. I’d love to go to Indonesia as well; seems like shows there would be amazing.
Beartooth, the new hardcore outlet featuring former Attack Attack! frontman Caleb Shomo have announced a string of one off’s dates that will not take the group to any music venues, but will take them to fans’ living rooms.
"I don’t care where I play a show as long as its intimate" said Shomo. "And I don’t know how shows can be more intimate than in somebody’s house! I’d rather play to 50 people going crazy and truly experiencing the music how it was meant to be experienced than playing for 5,000 people who can’t get to the mic and sing, get on the stage and go crazy, then jump off and be caught by their friends and can’t hang out with us.".
The group caused a stir and a demand with the release of their latest live video for their current single “I Have A Problem” which showcased what the bands live show consisted of, stage dives, high fives and broken ceiling fans.
