01. Birth Of The Economic Hitman
"The lyrics for this song came out of a poem I wrote when I was going broke right after James was born. Ten years ago the idea of putting a song in a commercial was the lamest thing to do, and now it’s one of the few ways bands make money from songs. When the dudes came to me with the music I just started singing the melody right away. At the time i was listening to the Deftones a ton and I think you can hear that in the chorus."

02. Sharp Practice
"The lyrics for this song also came out of musings on how hard it was to survive financially in the music industry now that everyone just downloads records for free. I was trying to write about how songs are still valuable even if the price tag says free and how we were working with this big label who had a job sell this music and feeling like we were too weird for them to be able to do that. We were still on Atlantic at the time this was written and all of us had a feeling like we were going to get dropped or something."

03. Suitcase
"This was one of the first songs we wrote for the record, and it’s also the first time we were able to capture this type of vibe, heavy yet atmospheric, powerful yet patenting. It’s about meeting someone who doesn’t give two shits about you until they find out you are in a band they like or you are someone they know then start treating you differently."

04. The Lottery
"When someone in my family was diagnosed with cancer I had the music to this song and was working on vocals. It’s all I could think about. I had just gotten off the phone with them as they poured their heart out to me about what it’s like to be facing mortality and failing health. Most of the themes of that song, including the comparison of the lottery to getting cancer, came out of that call."

05. My Only Friend
"This song was written after a fight I had with a friend and is me venting about them not being there. When you have kids you enter another world were you don’t have time to do the things you used to do anymore, and a lot of my friends ended up bailing on me and never coming over my house or calling me anymore because I was so busy with my family. That’s what inspired most of the energy of this song."

06. Phantasmagoria
"I’ve always had trouble trusting people and it has fucked up every relationship I have ever had, weather it be with a women or a man or god. This song and the lyrics came to me as it was being written. The music and lyrics came together which is rare and it wasn’t until after I had recorded the song that I realized what I had said."

07. Think Of Me When They Sound
"Can’t talk about this song."

08. Brother Song
"Can’t talk about this either."

09. Bird Song
"Wrote this for Colin [Frangicetto, guitar] when we were writing our second album, I was trying to let him know that he was taking shit way too seriously and that I loved him. The song also has a lot of themes about being deprived of sleep and restlessness, which we were both suffering from at the time."

10. Blood From A Stone
"Colin wrote the music for this song after being inspired by that Crosses band (Chino from Deftones’ side project). No one else in the band seemed to be into it besides me and I started to work on it right away. The demo had a real electronic feel and it was so different. The lyrics came from a place where I was trying to revive passion in a creative partner who seemed to lose their focus."

11. I’ll Find A Way
"This song was written in a jam with Colin and Nick [Beard, bassist]. it’s a musing on feeling responsible for things that happen to the band and wanting to tell everyone that I woulld always do my best to make this shit as good as it can be."

BORGOREis gearing up for BORGORE’S BAKERY TOUR, a North American fall trek launching September 21 in Aspen, CO.  Pre-sale tickets will be made available this Wednesday, August 29 via http://borgore.wantickets.com/.  Check out the tour trailer here: http://youtu.be/XcjPx7apg7o.

The 25-date tour will bring the “bad boy of bass” and his oven fresh tunes to nightclubs and major music festivals throughout the U.S. and Canada including stops at Pacha in NYC, Lizard Lounge in Dallas, Revolution in Fort Lauderdale and the Freaknight Festival in Seattle, rounding out at the Voodoo Music + Art Experience festival in New Orleans Halloween weekend.  Says Borgore about the tour, “…because bitches love cake.”

In conjunction with BORGORE’S BAKERY TOUR,theIsraeli beatmaker will make new songs available.  “I’m releasing an EP more for my close circle, my hardcore fans, which will be super dubstep-ish, full on,” BORGORE recently told Steve Baltin of RollingStone.com (8/23/12).   The tracks featured include “Smell Your Dick,” “Turn Up” and “Why Does It Feel?”

BORGORE’s latest releases include the DECISIONS EP which features the title track accompanied by remixes from French house producer Cedric Gervais, Dead Audio and BORGORE’s own Dub Mix reworking. BORGORE takes over the bass music throne with “Decisions,” which features his unmistakable wobble bass, a perky female vocal courtesy of Miley Cyrus and his own dubstep-influenced rapping. There’s also FLEX, the 4-song EP that represents the latest salvo in the 24-year-old producer/songwriter/DJ’s rapid ascent, with “Kiss My Lips”—a monstrous collaboration with Dev, the dance-music siren—and three versions of the title track: a pounding dubstep version; a hip-hop flavored take influenced by the “trap music” of Waka Flocka Flame and Lex Luger which prove BORGORE’s hardest, raunchiest beats yet; and a version remixed by Document One

Hailing from Israel via London, dubstep badass BORGORE—the man who claims he “ruined dubstep” and bass culture’s enfant terrible—is one of the most colorful characters in electronic dance music (EDM) today. He is infamous for his propulsive, interactive live shows, which have turned him into one of electronic music’s most popular, controversial figures. Expect nothing less than bass-in-your-face frenzy.

While LAMB OF GOD singer Randy Blythe is back home in America after five weeks in prison in the Czech Republic, his legal problems are far from over.  Manslaughter charges are still hanging over Blythe and at some point over the next few months he will have to return to Prague and stand trial.  Faced with continuing massive legal bills, LAMB OF GOD has decided to create an eBay auction of equipment and memorabilia to raise money for Randy’s legal bills. All equipment was either used on tour or in the recording studio or in a video.  The auction features items provided by all five members of LAMB OF GOD.

In addition, a number of musicians have offered equipment to be used in the auction.  Guitars have been donated by Machine Head’s Robb Flynn and Phil Demmel as well as Slash and Five Finger Death Punch. Megadeth’s David Ellefson and Five Finger Death Punch’s Chris Kael have each contributed a bass and the members of Five Finger Death Punch also have contributed a signed skateboard.

Justice Now, the site set up for donations, will remain open for those wishing to donate to Randy’s defense fund.  The band appreciates all of the support Randy has received since his arrest on June 28th and is thankful for all of the donations that have been made in these tough economic times.  As stated before, without the fans, there is no LAMB OF GOD

After just about two years, Circa Survive’s newest self-released and self-produced album “Violent Waves” hit the shelves Tuesday, August 28th. They decided to fly solo for album number four, which isn’t too surprising, and they really flew with it. The album is literally a fantastic fusing of their former three albums, “Juturna”, “On Letting Go”, and “Blue Sky Noise”. The new 11-track album gives you just about an hour of Circa Survive at it’s finest. The first seven minutes, a song titled “Birth Of The Economic Hitman” is nostalgia for hardcore “Juturna” fans (like myself). Playing with progression, softness, atmospheres, and stretching frontman Anthony Green’s vocals to it’s limits, the album has done nothing but amplify Circa’s distinct feel.

Don’t be fooled by the first track, however, because the second, “Sharp Practice”, takes a different turn, craftily adding in some funk-like sounds and an upbeat chorus. A noteable track, and one of my favorites from the album, is “The Lottery.” With a more upbeat intro, the track still successfully creates an almost hypnotic flow of both Anthony Green’s and Geoff Rickly’s voices (from former band Thursday, which ended in late 2011). Overall, the album itself gives the diversity and intensity that Circa Survive fans would expect, mixed with their familiarly tasteful sound.

10/10

Hi I’m Steven from Void of Fortune, and I’m going to be going in-depth with our EP “Prologue”.

We chose the name Prologue for our EP because it was fitting for what was going on with us as a band, and as young adults. The Prologue is usually a chapter or section that occurs before the story has begun, and I feel like that’s how we are. We’re a group of young friends starting something amazing before our real story has even begun.

Songs:

Descent into Madness

Descent is all about a time in my life when everything was falling apart around me. Everything I thought true and righteous was turning out to be nothing more than just a lie, and everything I did was self-destructive to my own life. The song is formatted so that the verse is really me talking to myself like one would do in a mirror; basically just yelling at myself for being such a screw up. I was officially in a Hell of my own making.

Ghost of Suicide Frog

Suicide Frog is all about losing faith in yourself, and truly believing that there’s nothing you can do to change your situation. Day in and day out you just give in to fear and indecision while the very person you’ve always feared of becoming takes hold. However, you still manage to find something (be it a friend, relative, or something else) that gives you the strength to get up and try again. Not everything is as bleak as it seems, and there is always a better way out.

The story behind the name “Ghost of Suicide Frog” is my senior year in high school (the rest’s freshman year) Spencer, Jordan, and I were walking to guitar class when we bore witness to a frog jumping off of the roof of the auditorium and committing suicide. It was a pretty bloody and gruesome death for a frog, but it has since then been an inside joke for the three of us.

From the Tongue of a Sinner

Sinner is a song for everyone who has ever committed a sin or is currently sinning in our world. Like it or not it’s the sinful and corrupted that run things in our day to day lives. But, on the flip side, this song is also about those natural urges we’re born with that some would put down and try to silence. We as humans are born from sin, born with sin, and die with our sins. Some are perfectly natural like feeling a sexual attraction to another, or wanting to find a logical explanation for something instead of keeping to a specific faith. So From the Tongue of a Sinner is showing both sides to sinners; the good and bad.

Interlude

Just a dark and soothing melody before My Love, Your Curse.

My Love, Your Curse

This song is extremely important to me in so many ways. The period where my life was falling apart I was with a girl who is the center of everything that was going wrong. She was the reason my life was such a Hell. She used me, cheated on me, got kicked out of my house at 19, and I ended up losing my job too. You never really feel alone until all of your friends and family turn their backs on you. Any who, MLYC (My Love, Your Curse) is about a dream I had one night where I ended up getting revenge on my ex by hunting down and killing her, and kind of making a sick game out of it too. I probably would never do this in a thousand years, but it really helped get my full hatred for her out of my system. This song is made for anyone who hates their ex as much as I do.

IV

Spencer and I (along with our former drummer Zach) wrote this song back when we were in an old band together called “Ex Nihilo”. It was originally called “The Four” and is all about the Apocalypse from the view point of the Four Horsemen.  There’s really no deep meaning behind this song other than our opinion of how hellacious the end of time is going to be.
