All Time Low Announce New Album "Don't Panic" Available October 9th

The 4-piece pop-punk band, All Time Low, have announced their new album "Don’t Panic" out October 9^th, 2012 on Hopeless Records available for pre-order here. "With this record, a big part of the process was finding what made our band special on each of our past records," says singer/guitarist Alex Gaskarth. “This time around, rather than taking influence from anything we were listening to at the time-or anything we want to touch on generationally-the goal was to make an album that we felt reflected the best aspects of our previous releases.”

O'Brother announce New EP and Tour

Triple Crown Records is pleased to announce the release of Basement Window the new EP from O’Brother. The EP is a bit of a sonic departure for the band, stripping down and re-arranging a few of their favorites from their debut full length Garden Window. Vocalist Tanner Merritt explains “It’s a lot of fun to strip a song down to its very core and see how it holds its own based upon sheer songwriting. With so much volume and layering it’s very easy to lose those things. It’s fun and challenging to take a song and mold it in to something completely different. Give it a new tone and demeanor. That’s what our intention was with this EP, to (hopefully) allow ourselves and others to see these songs in a different light.”

Basement Window will be released digitally September 18th and include a bonus track not on the vinyl release. Vinyl will be released October 30th. The limited vinyl release is a special pressing, 1 side audio and 1 side etched artwork.

The Hives Unleash New Music Video For Single "Wait A Minute"

The Hives are ready for their close up with the release of their new video for “Wait A Minute,” which recently premiered on MTV. MTV’s own Buzzworthy Blog remarked “with squirmy close-ups on Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist’s cartoon eyes and mesmerizing jaw, ‘Wait A Minute’ is anything but zen; it’s a taught, nervy, post-punk track that stays true to the Swedish group’s garage origins.”

Directed by Travis Schneider, the video was filmed in a Chicago hotel room using only some leather, an iron, a floor lamp, frozen yogurt, and the sweltering Chicago sun. “Wait A Minute” is the second single from The Hives lauded new album Lex Hives, which was released earlier this summer on the band’s own Disques Hives.

 The Hives will return to the U.S. next month for a West Coast run, kicking off September 2 at the Made In America festival in Philadelphia with stops in Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, Oakland, Las Vegas, and more. The tour will include appearances on CONAN on September 12 and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on October 5.

The September dates are the latest on the band’s world tour, which included a stop this past weekend at Reading & Leeds Festival, and marks their second outing in the U.S. following a widely-praised run in June. The Philadelphia Inquirer proclaimed “The Hives have been single-handedly saving rock and roll,” and the Washington Times stated, “The Hives played the audience like a fiddle.” Similarly, MTV praised their “Superhuman capacity for consistent excellency,” and SPIN anointed Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist “one of the greatest frontmen in rock.”

The band’s newest album Lex Hives is receiving worldwide praise, with NME declaring “Let it be said that Lex Hives is amazing,” and Q Magazine's 4-star review asserting “Lex Hives fizzes with the energy of a debut album, the quintet emphatically back to what they do best.” Likewise, The Independent states, “If Lex Hives has one fault, it’s that it makes you want to switch it off, go straight out and see the Hives live,” and Entertainment Weekly proclaims “The Hives have returned to remind us the Swedes do it better.”

Twin Atlantic and The Used Release New Tour Sampler

NOISECREEP premiering new PRODUCT OF HATE single, “A Well Deserved Death”

Following-up the release of “Revolution of Destruction” earlier this summer, Wisconsin’s PRODUCT OF HATE returns on August 28 with “A Well Deserved Death,” the second installment in their new digital “Singles Series.” For the new track, the band once again recorded with Chris Wisco at Belle City Sound in Racine, Wisconsin. Summer 2012 has found Product of Hate doing a host of one-off dates with the likes of White Wizzard, Dirge Within, and Lazarus A.D., while continuing work on new recordings and video projects.

Additionally, it has been revealed that the long-awaited premiere of their “Unholy Manipulator” short film will take place on Friday, September 14, 2012 at The Portage Theater in Chicago as part of “Terror in the Aisles 12.” Tickets for the event, which also features the Midwest Premiere of the feature film IRON SKY are available at this location. “THE UNHOLY MANIPULATOR” stars Ashley Laurence (HELLRAISER, Slipknot’s “Snuff”) and Tim Lovelace (MOSQUITO, BUNYAN), and was produced by special effects legend Robert Kurtzman (FROM DUSK ‘TILL DAWN, WISHMASTER). The film was directed and edited by James Zahn. An online premiere is being planned for October, with further details to be revealed at a later date.

Interview: Andrew Schwab of Project 86

Project 86 is an American Christian rock band from Orange County, California, formed in 1996. Frontman Andrew Schwab’s poetic and introspective lyrics have addressed a wide variety of topics such as conformity and emptiness. Their latest release, Wait for the Siren, was just released independently through a Kickstarter fund. We chatted with Andrew about his roots, lyrical messages, the music industry, and more.

For the record, what’s your name and what do you do in the band?

Andrew Schwab, vocals/songwriter/co-producer

Let’s talk about your roots. I’ve never been to California before. What’s it like there?

Great weather, too many people, too many people acting like they are important, lots of fun things to do!

What do you feel has contributed to your long career as a band? Bands like Haste The Day, Thrice, and Thursday have recently broken up, a band that had been at it for awhile.

It’s definitely hard to do music these days.  It is getting harder, too.  We owe the longevity to our fans, point blank.  They treat us like we are family. 

How would you guys say you’ve grown as a musician just from the time-span between your self-titled debut and Wait for The Siren?

Oh man…we were a different band completely back then!  When we started we were a post-hardcore band, but now we are a rock band.  I think we have grown infinitely since back then, and the sound has evolved, but the heart remains the same…we still want to make unique, intelligent, heavy music that is diverse and creative in lyrical approach.

When appealing to different sets of fan bases, new and old, young and old, what is the thought process when trying to write something that has an appeal to both, but also embodies what Project 86 is?

We don’t think too much about who we are going to appeal to when we are writing music. The approach has always been to make music we like first and foremost.  If you worry too much about your audience you can start making music that isn’t honest or authentic.

Are there any songs you guys are most proud of? Like one of those kind of songs that ten years ago you never could have imagined being involved in creating it?

I think Fall, Goliath, Fall from the new album Wait for the Siren is one of the best things this band has ever written. Very proud of that jam.

What are some of the particular messages you tried to get across in the lyrical content of the new record? Are there any topics that you cover on Wait for The Siren that you haven’t in the past?

Great question.  The overarching theme is that you can overcome any obstacle if you believe in your cause.  There’s a line in the first song that says, “We fight not for the hate of a tyrant but for love of what is behind us.”  I love the idea that heart can overcome talent, that the faith of an underdog can defeat a goliath.  Another big theme is that heritage does not equal destiny. In other words, it doesn’t matter what kind of family you were born into, it matters what kind of family you make for yourself as an adult.  We aren’t bound by our genetics, and even if we were born into less than fortunate circumstances, we can overcome them through character, heart, and belief.

What other bands do you see yourselves touring with in the future? What other bands do you guys recommend for your fans to check out?

We will be hitting the road with 12 Stones this October.  You can check our website for details: www.project86.com.  We will have to see about future tours.  We have played shows in the past with August Burns Red, Haste the Day, Linkin Park, Blindside, 30 Seconds to Mars, Sevendust, and POD.   Bands to check out?  Good question. I would start with this little band called The Black Keys.  They are awesome.  And Maybe the new Fiona Apple record. 

The music industry has changed significantly since you guys started out. What advice would you give upcoming bands— musically and business-wise?

Get a real job.  Ha.  No really, it’s very difficult to even make a living playing music today.  I would say the only hope is to make unique music that doesn’t sound like everyone else.  Be yourself.
