Namesake is road ready and revitalized as they get set to embark on a summer tour with Allstar Weekend this summer (full schedule below). The tour kicks off on July 17th in Austin, TX and is in anticipation of the band’s debut album, Boarders & Fences, out on August 7th on Imagen Records. Check them out live performing their single, “Worlds Away,” recently shot at a tour stop at Alrosa Villa in Columbus, OH.

With Borders & Fences, the quintet comes out swinging and they bring a flurry of pummeling rhythms, clench-fisted chords and meaty hooks that connect with each listen as they deliver fast and catchy punk power pop harmonies. Big Smile Magazine says Namesake “redefines the punk pop genre with a modern edge”, while The Examiner calls them “a band that will be heard for years to come.”

Be sure to check out the official video for their first single, “Worlds Away,” (available now on iTunes), and visit them on their official Facebook and Twitter for more info.

Summer is heating up for Los Angeles-based electro house production duo COLD BLANK, who today (Monday, July 2) released “Onslaught” featuring Andy Taylor (Duran Duran’s original lead guitarist). On “Onslaught,” Taylor—who has worked with Robert Palmer, Rod Stewart, Paul Rodgers and more—meshes his legendary guitar skills with COLD BLANK’s signature electro house sound, perfectly bridging the worlds of rock and electronic dance music. Purchase “Onslaught” here http://www.beatport.com/release/onslaught/932806. “Onslaught” is the third single from COLD BLANK’s forthcoming debut album THE AGENDA out August 6 on their own independent imprint Burn The Fire.

“Onslaught” follows COLD BLANK’s previous release “Deception” featuring Blake Miller of Moving Units. “Deception,” which debuted on Tiësto’s Club Life podcast, features COLD BLANK’s earmark sound, complete with bleeping chiptune synths, bouncing bass and beating drums, coupled with Blake Miller’s digitally haunting vocals. Purchase “Deception” here: http://www.beatport.com/release/deception/905157. Watch the “Deception” video here: http://youtu.be/tLoHX5B68Bk. Also available is “Louder Than Bombs,” the first single from THE AGENDA, which made its debut on MTV Hive and reached #2 on the Beatport Top 100 Dubstep chart days after its release and stayed there for several weeks. “Louder Than Bombs” can be purchased on Beatport here: http://www.beatport.com/release/louder-than-bombs/905175.

COLD BLANK are currently nominated in the Top 100 DJs in America poll by DJ Times magazine, America’s first magazine dedicated to DJs and DJ culture. Fans can vote for COLD BLANK online at www.americasbestdj.net now through Labor Day 2012 (September 3).

About COLD BLANK:
Destroying dancefloors everywhere with massively heavy beats, Chris Gaspar and Manny Luquin, the electro house producers behind COLD BLANK, are at the top of their game. As owners of the reputable record label Burn The Fire, they have their finger on the pulse of raw electronic dance music and are keeping it pumping hard with their debut full-length album THE AGENDA, out August 6. This blistering 10-track album is filled with their trademark banging electro sound, and also sees them exploring other genres for the first time such as dubstep (“Louder Than Bombs”) and drum & bass (“Signs of Chaos”).  Elsewhere on the album, collaborators and features include Andy Taylor (Duran Duran’s original lead guitarist), who lends his legendary guitar skills on the track “Onslaught,” Veela, Electric Soulside and Neon Stereo. Launching their Burn The Fire brand in 2008 with a wildly successful party in Los Angeles called Smash Disco, COLD BLANK has played a large role in shaping the scene and sound of the Southern California dance world. The next year saw their very first release chart on the Beatport Top 100 and they’ve continuously hit the marker ever since. Early tracks like “Dutchie,” “Raver Booty” and “The Lizard King” have become electro house anthems, and more recent songs like “Die Famous,” “Redroid” and “Ancient Physic Tandem War Elephant” show that COLD BLANK has no intention of slowing down. Having remixed artists like Chuckie, Robbie Rivera, Zedd, Spencer & Hill, Vandalism, Rank 1, PeaceTreaty and even Cypress Hill, Rusko and Damian Marley, their extensive catalog is supported by many top DJs including David Guetta, Armin Van Buuren, Tiësto, Moby, Knife Party, Axwell, John Dahlback, Morgan Page, Paul Oakenfold and more. COLD BLANK also currently host their weekly Burn The Fire radio show on the Electric Sound Stage channel on iHeartRadio.

EMI Music’s extensive reissue campaign honoring the legacy of THE SMASHING PUMPKINS continues July 17 in North America and July 16 internationally.  That’s when the iconic alternative band’s third album PISCES ISCARIOT1994’s platinum-certified disc that reached #4 on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart—receives the fully remastered treatment for the first time. This follows last year’s acclaimed reissues of the band’s groundbreaking first two albums, Gish (1991)and Siamese Dream (1993).

“A collection of odds and orphans from the dusky realms of Pumpkinland” is how PUMPKINS founding member BILLY CORGAN describes PISCES ISCARIOT in the liner notes penned by David Wild. Pisces Iscariot was the little mix tape that went platinum,” writes Wild. “This unlikely smash album that some came to mistake for the Pumpkins’ third studio effort even yielded a hit single—another wonderfully odd moment in the landslide that was the intense early success story of Smashing Pumpkins.”

Featuring the band’s take on the Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks song “Landslide” which reached #3 on Modern Rock Tracks chart, PISCES ISCARIOT is being released in multiple configurations: Deluxe Physical Album—which comes with a live DVD and the first-ever PUMPKINS demo reproduced on cassetteDeluxe Digital, Standard Physical, Digital and 180G Vinyl. The bonus content and special features were curated from the band’s archives by CORGAN, and have been painstakingly remastered for the first time from the original master tapes by Bob Ludwig.*See all track listings below.

With the full support and guidance from THE SMASHING PUMPKINS—who’ve created one of the most acclaimed bodies of work in musical history, selling over 30 million albums—EMI’s global catalog reissue campaign will last through 2013; it will encompass all the band’s albums and B-sides from 1991-2000, with other release dates to be announced.  The pivotal group’s many hits defined the alternative music era and continue to resonate on modern rock radio, influencing a whole new generation.

As THE SMASHING PUMPKINS get the fully remastered treatment via these reissues, the band is excited to be moving forward by creating new music.  On June 19, the band released OCEANIA, via Martha’s Music/EMI Label Services/Caroline Distribution. Marking THE SMASHING PUMPKINS’ 7thstudio record, it is “an album within an album,” part of their 44-song work-in-progress TEARGARDEN BY KALEIDYSCOPEOCEANIA was recorded at the group’s studio in Chicago with CORGAN’s bandmates: guitarist JEFF SCHROEDER, drummer MIKE BYRNE and bassist/vocalist NICOLE FIORENTINO.

Muse says that their new album, The 2nd Law, will be “very diverse.” There is a jazzy song with brass instruments and a song with dubstep influences, which you can hear a clip of in the album trailer in the replies. The dubstep is limited to that song only, though.

Then asked what people could expect to hear on the album, he added: “We’ve tried a bunch of new things, which the trailer gives a glimpse of. There’s only one song that’s like that. We’ve basically tried to do what Rage Against The Machine did with hip-hop in the 1990s and take a bit of the electronic world and dubstep and play it with real instruments. There’s only one track like that, the rest of it is very very diverse.”

The Word Alive - Life Cycles
Record Label: Fearless Records
Release Date: July 3rd, 2012

The Word Alive’s new album “Life Cycles,” set to release on July 3, is one to mark the beginning of the rest of a killer band. This is their 3rd full album, a recovery from the loss of both their keyboardist and drummer after “Deceiver”; of which they only chose to replace the drummer with Luke Holland. However, he joined the band after Matt Horn, a friend of the band, who had already completed the studio sessions. Lead singer Tyler (‘Telle’) Smith previously stated that “Life Cycles” was going to have a much heavier sound, and I have to admit, he wasn’t lying in the least. But not only does the album have a heavier vibe, but it ties in some sweet vocals: the harmonies on Tyler’s cleans definitely boost the contrast between his voice and the screams.

The first song of the album “Dragon Spell” kicks off an electronic feel that overflows into most of the other songs. I feel as if the decision to not replace the keyboardist allowed them to play around with an array of sounds to fill that space, and it seriously sounds awesome. The release of the single “Life Cycles” back in early June was an excellent glimpse into what to expect from the whole of this album. It bundled the vocals and incorporated the electronics really well, which seems to happen in each song. Ending on a softer note with “Astral Planes,” the slower song does a super job on highlighting Tyler’s cleans, but of course, it officially ends with a bang tying together what is probably TWA’s best album yet. Over all, the album is definitely a huge step up from “Deceiver,” making it a total must-buy. Get pumped, this is a good one.

10/10
