Unsigned Spotlight: REMARK

Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.

YANAS – Vocals

DEN – Guitar

IVAN - Bass

TIMI - Drums

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to REMARK? How long has the band been around?

We have been playing together since 2009 when we met at the university. Later we found Yanas, he joined the band and became the lead vocalist. Now, after several changes, we have four members: YANAS – vocals, DEN – guitar, IVAN – bass, TIMI – drums.

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

Our band name is REMARK

First of all we like our band name. We choose this word because of the pronunciation: it has the same writing style in all languages. We didn't connect our it with writer Remark.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

We write it all together as a band. We think that music is major for us, themes are constantly changing (from song to song).

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

There are a lot of bands: from some indie music through alternative rock to some really weird genres. Every one of us has it's own way to inspiration.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

No, we have typical story. We met at university. Everybody of us has our own favorite bands, which provoked us to start making music, but in general it was alternative and hard rock bands.

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …

Only optimistic moods and good health condition help us to play and sing well, especially for vocalists. So exercises for vocal cords and warm tea is good for you. lol

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

I think release of our debut album, and opening acts for Slash, DOPE and other big names, and also our solo shows. Of course our unbelievable fans – a huge thanks them!

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

Red Sun Rising is a comparatively new name at music stage, but they already announced themselves. I like their music, flow and appearance. It would be cool to play with them, or even do a tour.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Thanks to Kill the Music for such a good interview!
