Brand New posted a message on their website thanking fans and acknowledging the 10th birthday of Deja Entendu. It can be read below

We would just like to take a moment to say thank you to you all for the ten years since Deja Entendu was released, and for all the things that have happened since then. Time goes by quickly, and the steps our band has taken since recording that album down in Charlotte have been significant. But it’s important for us to recognize that in many ways this record was our first step down a important creative path for our band. And for many of you, it was the doorway to an interest in our music. So thank you for listening, and for affording us the opportunities that you have for so many years. We hope that we still have it in us to create something that ten years from now, there will be a reason to celebrate and remember.

It is sincerely appreciated,
Garrett, Vincent, Jesse, and Brian

A message from the band can be read below after the jump

We’re just gonna tell you everything at once because we’re friends and we just have to let it out. WE’RE DOING A HEADLINE TOUR AND DENNIS WILSON IS OUR NEW DRUMMER AND ALSO BOOM HERE’S A SONG OFF THE NEW RECORD. Yup.

This is our first headline tour in who knows how many years. We’ve been waiting for this. You’ve been waiting for this. Well… wait no more (just till September - but presale is available NOW)! We’re playing oldies, deep cuts, and lots of new jams from OUR NEW RECORD. You all have breathed a lot of life into this record, and we can’t wait to be in these rooms with you, singing the old and new songs together. We’re gonna lose our goddamn shit. You’ve seen some recent setlists making the rounds on the interweb - we’re gonna go even deeper. We’ll be joined by Into It. Over It. and Hostage Calm on all dates. We picked these bands because we like them and we like what they’re about. Know about them. Go on and say hi, they’re top blokes.

Speaking of Top Blokes, say hello to Dennis Wilson. You may have seen him play all of our 2013 shows with us so far. He’s already been initiated into our little pirate gang, he hits the sound-cylinders with power, and he digs Quicksand, Led Zeppelin, Elliott Smith, and Superchunk. He fits right in. Maybe you’ve seen him drum for EVERY AVENUE or THIS IS HELL? We’re keeping him now. Go on and welcome him into the family! @thedenniswilson.

Speaking of family, we’re excited to see all of you - you guys became part of this album and we’ve leaked some snippets and nuggets over the course of us making this thing. Finally, here’s a song we can share with you. It’s called #REMEMBER. Turn it up. Share it. Hug your friends. Take a picture of a dog. Do the gorilla. See you on tour! #PUNKTHEFUCKOUT

XOXO
Arun, Chris, Rodrigo, and Dennis // Saves The Day

Streetlight Manifesto’s delayed release of their newest album “The Hands That Thieve” was more than worth the wait. This album delves right into the familiar sounds of the band, creating an atmosphere that will draw the newest of fans, as well as keep the old ones coming.

Their raw, yet identifiable sound can be heard unwavering through this entire album. “The Hands That Thieve” brings more than the usual punching horns, punk beats, and yelling vocals; This album is a work of art and is a great definition of music. Whether you are a fan of the genre or not, this album has a very real sound to it. The lyrics express a certain message of realism and brutal honesty that is hard to find in most music today.

The first song to be released from this album before it was out was an acoustic version of the 5th track “With Any Sort of Certainty”. This song, though acoustic, set up the listener on what to expect for the upcoming album and definitely didn’t disappoint. The energized, charged up sound of Streetlight Manifesto still reigns supreme in this album. Songs like “The Three of Us”, “With Any Sort of Certainty”, and title track “The Hands That Thieve” prove to bring a powerhouse record to ska fans and any fans of bands that put an original spin on traditional songwriting.

The singer/songwriter/guitarist of the band, Tomas Kalnoky, brings a homey feel in his lyrics and vocals that is supercharged by the rest of the band. This album wants to make you jump and dance and hum along, but has a certain comforting sadness to it. As far as the album itself goes, these song mesh really well together and bring back a style that is composed of singer/songwriter and ska. It’s fair to say that Streetlight Manifesto has mastered this sound and genre and only proves this point further with “The Hands That Thieve”.

This album will bring a great satisfaction to any past fans of Streetlight Manifesto and will excite any new listeners of the band. “The Hands That Thieve” keep an old school punk feel with a new age ska spin to it. This album is the perfect album for new and old fans; it brings the listener through a rollercoaster of emotions as the album  progresses.
