Boysetsfire have announced some line-up changes. They have also begun writing new material and are preparing to tour. Their statement can be read below.

BoySetsFire has been a band for nearly two decades. In that time we have played hundreds of shows to anyone that would watch us, from basements to festival audiences. We lived through the terror of rap-rock, the tyranny of nu-metal, and the dark days of pop-punk. We were around before the internet. Truth. We made demo tapes. We have recorded 4 LPs, EPs, CDs, and even a Cassingle. We have played Rookie over 1,000 times. We have fallen off more stages than most people have stood on. We have been signed and dropped and signed and dropped. Frankly, most would have given up years ago.

We tried. Like the most well-meaning addict we swore it off, made our amends, and tried to rebuild our lives without BoySetsFire. But the lure was too much. We soon found ourselves in the same situations making the same decisions that lead to so much pain.

Before we knew it we were on a reunion tour. It was amazing. Then we held our breath crossed our fingers and started writing songs. What came out was music that was even more intense, more fragile, and more brutal than anything we had done before. Even thought to my disappointment there was almost no dubstep. In fact, the writing was so rewarding we decided to keep on writing…and writing…and writing.

So we have a brand new member (Dan Pelic), an old member coming back (Robert Ehrenbrand), a long-time friend officially joining (Chris Rakus) and the three original gray hairs Chad Istvan, Nathan Gray, and Joshua Latshaw playing together.

We are writing for a new record. We have tours booked. We are looking forward to another two decades…dear god…..

The NEWFORM Label is proud to present ‘Prey for Us’ the new digital EP from WASTER. It will be available for FREE download on December 11, 2012 at www.thenewformlabel.com. WASTER is hitting the studio in February to record the follow up to their debut full length ‘Thunder Pit’, in the meantime they wanted to put something out for their loyal fans. Prey for Us is 2 brand new songs recorded this summer during writing sessions for their upcoming album.

The 2 songs are dense thrashy bangers that show a growth of style, yet a continuation of the band’s previous songs. The Sled Island Festival had the following to say about Waster: “Why waste a riff on anther song?  The metal riffage, alternating between propulsive bangers and heavy groovers, is packed so densely into each song that it’s hard to imagine getting enough of a breather from relentless air guitarring and devil horn saluting to even shout one’s approval.”

Weighing in at a collective 780 pounds, standing 28 feet, 6 inches tall, and hailing from Northern Virginia is THE GOOD FIGHT. They bring aggressive, yet agreeable pop-punk into the ring, ready to take on all comers. Started in November of 2010 and reincarnated March of 2012, The Good Fight are currently running on their 2.0 operating system. With each member coming from different bands and different backgrounds, the guys were able to put their heads together and write an incredibly cliche bio to tell you their music kicks ass. With their melodic vocals, catchy leads, driving beats, and the occasional bone crushing breakdown, the guys, whether on stage or in the studio, will make sure they leave their fans with something they’ll remember.

Earlier this year, The Good Fight posted three songs online to tease fans of what was to come. The tracks – “I’m A Goddamn Marvel of Modern Science”, “Wendy Peffercorn”, and “We Should Have Fuckin’ Shotguns” – immediately reeled in Fort Charter Records. “The band was actually recommended to me by our first punk rock group, Like You To Me”, says Founder, Nathaniel Lay. “TGF was one of the bands being considered for their upcoming split EP, so I checked them out that night. I quickly fell in love with the songs they had, and have been jamming them nonstop for the past month now.”

Now that they’ve officially joined the label, The Good Fight kicked things off with the free download of their brand new, humorous “Santa Baby” cover. Listening to the song is like rewinding time some 10 years to old school Blink-182.

The guys of The Good Fight – Eli Fiorillo (Guitar/Backing Vocals), Ben Conner (Guitar), Tyler Robinson (Bass/Backing Vocals), Tom Kelly (Vocals), and Spencer Mallinson (Drums) – are currently recording the three songs they will be contributing to the Like You To Me split EP (which is expected March 2013), as well as gearing up for the recording of their debut EP with Fort Charter Records. January/February may be the time for FCR metal bands (Voices & Vessels and Insult To Injury will be releasing new albums), but starting March, it will be time for nonstop punk rock craze!

“I’m so glad that the guys of The Good Fight have decided to join the family,” says Nathaniel Lay. “I knew I could trust Like You To Me to point me in the direction of some great bands, but I was still surprised by how many of them lived close by. When I went to meet with The Good Fight in Virginia, we had an excellent time. The band played me every single song they’ve written, and I just cannot wait to hear the rest of them recorded for all to hear. Not only that, the guys are just fun as fuck to hang with, which is important in my eyes. If you can’t hang with a band and have a good time, then what’s the point? The Good Fight are about fun, and their writing is incredible. They will easily make waves in the scene this coming year!”

The band is available for interviews if anyone would like to discuss the songs they’re recording currently (whether they be for the split EP or their debut EP). Contact information is below if you wish to set something up.

Upon A Red Sky vocalist Chris Breetzi has picked out his Top Five recently discovered records. You can view them below

image

#1 Apostate - Seabourne
Apostate - I love you. Really, I can’t live without this record anymore. When I spent my holiday in Barcelona I listened to this album about 20 times a day on average, and it never lost it’s bombastic effect. Proggy. Melodic. Great Breakdowns. Great voice. Melodic. Melodic. Wait, did I mention it’s melodic? If Apostate would be a potato it would be a really fucking delicious potato. LISTEN TO THIS RECORD NOW.

#2 Painted In Exile - Revitalized
Say what you want, but the rather unknown PIE are my BTBAM. I don’t like BTBAM that much, because their vocalist is too monotonous for me. PIE delivers excellent melodic riffs, a great songwriting and - my cherry on the top - one of the best vocalists I know. He is really great in screaming AND growling and has one of the most unique clean voices in metal. You have to listen to this band, it’s a pleasure for the ears.

image

#3 Periphery - Periphery
With slight advantage of Tesseract due to the better songwriting, Periphery makes the race for place three. They are in most aspects like Tesseract but a a little bit heavier. The clean voice here is again as great as Tesseract’s. Brilliant.

image

#4 Tesseract - One
Tesseract is one of my favourite Bands right now. Every time I hear their stuff, I think about Muse jamming with Meshuggah. Tesseract has such an awesome groove in every song and the singer is just brilliant. Also they are alternating a lot between distorted and acoustic stuff - a great plus point for me. Listen to the song “Eden 2.0”.

#5 Ludovico Einaudi - Islands
The advantage of a spotify subscription is, that you discover random music. A masterpiece of random music is the album “Islands” from the pianist Ludovico Einaudi. He’s a master at writing sensual music that calms my mind. He also provided the soundtrack for the great movie “Intouchables”.

Albuquerque, NM indie/punk quartet Sweet Weapons will enter Homewrecker Studios tomorrow to begin tracking their debut full-length. Entitled “All Of My Best Friends Are Dogs”, the LP will feature a collection of brand new material as well as select re-recorded songs from their demo recordings.  A spring release is slated through Escapist Records.

Flyleaf has just unleashed the official video for their second single “Call You Out,” off their recently released new album New Horizons, their last with long time singer Lacey Sturm. The animated video follows an angry bear destined to destroy the smaller animals towns, only to find himself faced with the masses. The video was directed by Brad Scott who has this to say about the band and creating the video:

"Our team has been a fan of Flyleaf since the very beginning, so working on a music video for the album ‘New Horizons’ was a great honor. Flyleaf’s new song ‘Call You Out’ is about the power of truth rising against evil. We aligned our characters with a cast of animals who were pitted against the ultimate antagonist in a forest. Through this, the video became the ultimate musical fable; light versus dark, and the triumph of good versus evil. Using live-action and animation we decided to limit our style to a monochromatic tone, with a dark and stormy vibe. I feel that Flyleaf fans all around will love this video, and we’re really excited for the premiere."

For more of the latest news on Flyleaf, head to their official site, Facebook and Twitter pages. Make sure to pick up a copy of New Horizons on iTunes
