Cult Chilean metal band UNDERCROFT are streaming 'Ruins of Gomorrah' in it’s entirety at No Clean Singing. The new album features the song “El Triunfo de La Muerte”, which saw a music video release earlier this year.

UNDERCROFT have released ‘Ruins of Gomorrah’ through Season of Mist. The album is available on CD, and a limited edition Double LP (with download card).

UNDERCROFT, featuring Alvaro Lillo (WATAIN),  have come a long way since emerging from the underground in ‘93. Their reputation spread quickly through South America with their early albums and shows with KREATOR and MORBID ANGEL before the band relocated to Europe. Now they return with ‘Ruins of Gommorah’, their first new album in six years. The Daniel Bergstrand (MESHUGGAH, BEHEMOTH, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD) produced album is a burning attack of pure, old-school metal.

San Francisco/North Bay progressive deathcore unit, Ænimus have just unleashed the lyric video for the track ‘Inertia’, taken from their forthcoming As Yet Untitled debut album. The lyric video can be viewed via the band’s own ‘ÆnimusOfficial' YouTube Channel. ‘Inertia' was exclusively premiered back in late August (31st to be exact) via Heavy Blog is Heavy, and garnered roughly 1,000+ plays in the first weekend alone. A guitar play through video featuring guitarist Brian Deebs' James playing one of the solos from the track was also released as a teaser leading up to the online premiere of ‘Inertia’, and can be viewed at this location.
The lyric video for ‘Inertia' was put together by Ænimus guitarist Sean Swafford, and he had the following to say about the creative process and idea behind it:
I am extremely excited to release this lyric video for our song ‘Inertia.’ The idea behind the video is mainly based on the song’s lyrical content. I really wanted to do something different from a lot of the lyric videos that I’ve seen. I wanted to try to visualize the lyrics, so I decided to go with a video that looks more realistic as opposed to most lyric videos that are primarily abstract. This was probably the most difficult video I have worked on so far, due to the tedious work involved with creating the clouds. Being able to finally see the end result, it was definitely worth the time and effort that went into it. Since joining Ænimus, I’ve been doing my part to help to make us as self sufficient as possible. Everyone in this band does something extra on top of contributing to the writing process and continually practicing to improve their skill sets on their respective instrument. In this day and age (in the music business), bands need to learn to wear multiple hats to survive; especially in the metal music scene. It’s definitely a lot of work, and we’re doing our best to stay on top of it. Anyhow, please do enjoy the video.
Ænimus are currently wrapping up the recording process for their debut album at NB Recording in Santa Rosa, CA with Producer Nick Botelho (Deadly Remains, The Kennedy Veil). An official release date has not been set.
The track list for the As Yet Untitled album is as follows:
I.    Asherah’s Hourglass
II.   The Awakening
III.  The Grasp of Ruin
IV.   Masterpiece
V.    Descent Into Chaos
VI.   Black Malice Construct
VII.  Black Malice Alchemy
VIII. Thrive
IX.   Heavy Lies the Crown
X.    Inertia
XI.   Convictions
XII.  The Final Delirium

The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart are pleased to announce a new 7” single on Play It Again Sam featuring covers of two of their favorite bands ever, The Magnetic Fields and East River Pipe. The single marks the first new recordings from the band since their 2011 album, Belong, and will be available in limited quantities on olive green vinyl on October 29th and download from October 9th. The single was recorded in June at Rare Book Room, and features “Jeremy” by The Magnetic Fields as the A-side with “My Life is Wrong” by East River Pipe on the flip.

Peggy Wang of Pains explains her personal connection to The Magnetic Fields: “The Magnetic Fields were a band without context. …I can look back at the time and see how the Magnetic Fields were a band that could exist outside of a context and still make me fall in love with them. I didn’t need to know if they were anyone else’s favorite band, I didn’t need to know what they looked like or where they were from or any frivolous details a hypothetical Tigerbeat interview might have divulged to me. The Magnetic Fields might have been the last band I ever unconditionally loved without ever stopping to try to understand why - just the kind of love story I hoped to one day live through.”

Nn the topic of East River Pipe’s “My Life is Wrong,” The Pains’ Kip Berman says: “Sure, it had all the prerequisites of this particular strain of indiepop — jangly guitars, the tinny kick and snare of a drum machine, and and an intimate vocal delivery intended for living rooms and campus rec centers, not big rock clubs or arenas. But where many of F.M. Cornog’s peers sang gently about gentle things — unrequited love or social discomfort — his understated voice evoked a sense of grand ambition thwarted (‘God knows I tried to live, this is all there is’). I heard a man striving for something far greater than he knew he could ever achieve, emerging from defeat with this undeniable pop gem as recompense for his struggle.”

The Pains have always been quick to share their enthusiasm for all the great bands who inspire them to make music, and with this great, rocking single we see them very concretely pay tribute to two of the finest song-writers in contemporary indie music.

The single is released to coincide with the bands tour of Europe through October and November, all dates and details below.
