Time To Run is the new debut EP from rising LA pop experimentalists Lord Huron, to be released 8 October through Play It Again Sam. A joyous collision of Appalachian percussion, calypso guitars and infectious Western melodies, it’s the sound of a band with the world in their music and at their feet.

With their full length debut, Lonesome Dreams, set to follow in early 2013, Time To Run is a fiercely compelling glimpse into the mind of Michigan-born Ben Schneider, who began the group as a solo endeavour in 2010, engineeringeverything on his first EP, Into The Sun – the music, the release, the artwork – alone. He took his stage name from the Lake Huron near his childhood home where his affinity for music began at an early age, nursed into bloom across long summer nights around the campfire.

The considerable cult acclaim that met Into The Sun inspired Schneider to seek out collaborators to turn Lord Huron into a powerful live experience, enlisting the talents of Mark Barry (percussion, vocals), Miguel Briseno (bass, percussion), Brett Farkas (guitar, vocals) and Tom Renaud (guitar, vocals). But even now, on the cusp of their first release as a full group, Lord Huron resemble more asprawling arts collective than a band – the sharp ingenuity of their music matched by the careful attention paid to their accompanying visuals.

Case in point? The mesmerising new music video for Time To Run, conceived by Schneider in collaboration with filmmaker and close friend Evan Weinerman (Arms Race), a wickedly skewered riff on Sergio Leone’s revered Spaghetti Western films, with twists that include Indonesian subtitles. “The goal was to make a video that, like the song, uses some familiar Western tropes while throwing in unique details from other genres and cultures,” says Weinerman.

Challenging though the short film’s creation was, shot in 22 hours in scorching Mojave desert temperatures of over 102 degrees, its offbeat, eclectic beauty captures perfectly the brilliance of a band with big things to come.

To commemorate their 50th anniversary as one of America’s most beloved and chart-topping bands, THE BEACH BOYS launched a triumphant 2012 reunion that has earned them massive critical accolades.  Now with the August 28 release of The Beach Boys:  Doin’ It Again DVD and Blu-ray Disc (BLAST MUSIC), music lovers will have a behind-the-scenes look at the reunion as well as pivotal moments in the band’s history.

Surviving members Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, David Marks and Bruce Johnston gathered earlier this year for an emotional reunion in Los Angeles to record their first album of new material in 20 years, to reflect on their remarkable history, and to kick off a worldwide tour. These moments and more are captured on The Beach Boys:  Doin’ It Again

The hour-long DVD features exclusive 2012 interviews with The Beach Boys, live performances from the band’s 2012 world tour, never-before-seen footage from the 1966 “Good Vibrations” recording sessions, moving tributes to founding members Carl and Dennis Wilson and behind-the-scenes footage from the recording sessions for their new That’s Why God Made The Radio CD.

About THE BEACH BOYS:  No American band has enjoyed as much success as The Beach Boys.  With 56 U.S. Top 100 hits, 36 Top Ten Hits and 4 Number One singles, The Beach Boys left an impression on 1960s American pop culture rivaled only by the band that considered them to be their only competition, The Beatles.

After releasing an amped-up cover of a holiday classic in each of the past four years, genre giants AUGUST BURNS RED are officially announcing details on their oft-rumored full-length Christmas album: August Burns Red presents: Sleddin’ Hill, A Holiday Album.

The 13-track release features not only fresh takes on classics such as “Jingle Bells,” “Winter Wonderland” and even “Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer,” but also original compositions that are destined to become future headbanging holiday favorites. The album also compiles remixed and remastered versions of the band’s previous holiday hits, like “O Come, O Come Emmanuel,” “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” and “Little Drummer Boy.” Rounding out the collection is an updated version of the band’s rendition of “Carol of the Bells,” heard in Frank Miller’s (300, Sin City) movie The Spirit and Seth MacFarlane’s (Family Guy) American Dad.

“The idea of doing a full Christmas album has been floating around in the ABR camp for a few years now, but what always held us back was finding the time and energy to write an additional full-length in between touring and writing our regular records,” explains guitarist and principle songwriter JB Brubaker.  “After finishing [2011’s] Leveler I finally felt inspired enough to tackle the Christmas album idea.”

After working with some of the biggest producers in the genre, the band chose to come home and work at Lancaster’s Atrium Audio with longtime friends Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland on Sleddin’ Hill, which finds ABR at its most ambitious and creative. It’s a work that enhances the guitar and drum mastery AUGUST BURNS RED are known for by adding unexpected elements such as banjo, violin, cello, piano and even horns.

“Because this was such a different type of album, I was able to get a little more wild with my influences,” confesses Brubaker. “There’s a section inspired by one of my favorite bands, BEIRUT. There’s also guitar solo that is an ode to Blue Album-era WEEZER, and my punk roots are evident all over the album.”

“Writing metal versions of Christmas songs has always been a challenge for me because the songs are driven by simple vocal melodies with the only variety in the lyrics. We decided to take the songs and go the instrumental route - the main melodies are there, but this record has a lot more to it then that,” he adds. “The songs have sections of music that flow in and out of the classic melodies we’ve all come to recognize. There is a lot of substance in these songs- more than you’d find in your typical cover.”

On whether Sleddin’ Hill is destined to become a novelty album or a key part of the band’s discography, Brubaker has the final word: “To some, the concept of a metal Christmas album may come off as silly and a waste of time, but I think this record has plenty of original ABR substance to interest even the biggest Scrooges out there.”

Class is back in session, as the sideshow hell ride known only as The Prep School Tragedy gears up for carnage with their debut release, It‘s All A Show. The twisted and animalistic plunge into Electro-Pop strips away all notions of common decency with hits like “Hate Everything I Do (Glitch Mode Mix)” and “Bussdown”. Highlighted by the band’s reckless damn-it-all attitude, It’s All A Show draws from the band’s various industrial and hip hop backgrounds. Personifying the DIY ethic that drives the industry today, the album was engineered, produced, and mixed by front man Benn “TranQ” Guy, along with Sean Payne of Cyanotic. Built like a savage machine fueled by sex, drugs, and cheerleaders, It’s All A Show is a blackout inducing look into the addicting world of The Prep School Tragedy.

The Prep School Tragedy recently wrapped up its first national tour with Ventana in support of their debut release. Taking advantage of the opportunity, the band left its footprint in cities like Milwaukee, Cleveland, Sandusky, and Detroit. This first major outing proved that the insanity of Prep School’s stage show was sharp enough to infect audiences on a national level.

Armed with enough adrenaline to rival any current touring act, The Prep School Tragedy quickly broke out as one of Chicago’s premier Industrial/Alternative collectives. Led by two front men, Benn “TranQ” Guy and Michael “Ignited” Hodes, the band has become notorious for its controversial live performances that include scantily clad cheerleaders, known only as The Squad. Rebelling against mainstream commodities, the band has mastered the art of independent music with self released music and merchandise, and they continue to be the backbone of their own promotional campaign. This consistent work ethic, coupled with their love for theatrics, has earned The Prep School Tragedy a loyal following across several state lines. Their delivery of filthy and grungy synths combined with erratic drum patterns is only a taste of the big picture. Walking a thin line between exploitation and good old fashioned fun, The Prep School Tragedy has managed to carve out their own unique sound in today’s otherwise vanilla landscape.

The Prep School Tragedy has made its way across the country, and shared the stage with such notable acts as The Birthday Massacre, Blood On The Dance Floor, Celldweller, Deadstar Assembly, Mushroomhead, , My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, Twiztid & Ventana. Their debut release, It’s All A Show, is available now on itunes and all digital retailers. (http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/its-all-a-show/id548969341)
