How long has the band been around?
8 years
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
No its always been Shellshock Lullaby. We were on our way to record our first single, “Different Story” in 2010 and we were brainstorming band names. Joe Beaudry, our original drummer, said Shellshock Lullaby and we loved it.
Who writes your songs?
We all come up with ideas and its different every time but typically Russ writes the song bed, then Hannah and Greg Haberek (our good friend and songwriting partner) write the lyrics and melody.
What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
We normally shoot for positive and up-lifting messages that we’ve learned through life experience. I do believe as we grow as songwriters and people these ideas will mature.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
Green Day, Alkaline Trio, The Cure, The 1975, and Pale Waves
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
Russ: After seeing NOFX, Taking Back Sunday, Coheed and Cambria, and New Found Glory on Warped 2004, I’ve always wanted to start a band like Shellshock Lullaby.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, etc …
Russ - We all warm up on our instruments and do vocal warm ups. We sometimes sing some cover songs. Hannah and I will do a shot of whiskey.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
We’d like to tour with Green Day. I believe our music would go well with theirs and they have always been a great inspiration to us. And we’d love to meet them.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
