Everyone Loves A Villain is an aggressive and cinematic rock band comprised of known and respected members of the Pacific Northwest music scene. The group has shaped up to be one of those uncommon situations where the collective vibe is realized in large part due to the strong individual identities of its members. ELAV is built upon pillars of raw talent, vision, and dedication to the craft. The magic these musicians create is based in simply being who they are.

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Everyone Loves A Villain? How long has the band been around?
Members came from Eclipse recordings artist Five Foot Thick, The Fail Safe Project and Oceans Divide. The group began organically out of an 18-year friendship shared by Silva, Harris, Ellis, and McCoy around the idea of a hard-hitting yet melodic new project. The band started about a year ago but we have been in signed and regional acts that past 20 years.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
One of those things where I was talking with a friend about the success of the Marvel cinematic universe and I told him everyone loves a villain. I remembered thinking I like that as a band name one day lol!
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
We touch on a wide range of subjects with our music. Our singer Chris McCoy writes the lyrics and melodies mostly but we all contribute. We all have blood in our music!
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
I would say we have a lot of influences. Stabbing westward as an old school inspiration and probably Bring Me The Horizon for a modern one.
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
I would say for a couple of us it was Sevendust hands down!
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …
Yoga is pretty amazing! It is the fountain of youth for us lol
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
Recording our first music video and lining up a show with Trivium in October.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
I would say Sevendust and a band called Glassjaw. Sevendust because they inspired a good amount of us to pick up guitars and sing and GlassJaw due to their infectious energy. You see them on stage you want what they have!
Is there anything else you would like to add?
We just released our first single and music video for“Eater of Worlds on spotify, music and youtube.
