GBAD is an Atlanta based metal band with a drive to deliver the most energetic that they can. From crowd-engaging live shows to captivating media, GBAD holds back nothing in their creative process. Formed from the remnants of the long defunct Atlanta post-hardcore band, Gored by a Deer, GBAD aims to keep the raw energy of it’s past roots, with a more mature and refined sound.

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to GBAD? How long has the band been around?
Both our drummer (Eric) and our bassist (Lewis) have been in a few bands actually (hearkening to andromeda) (Mainline Gallery). The rest of us have been in GBAD for years.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
In the beginnings of the band we went by “Gored by a Deer” before changing it to “Guilty by all Design”. Now as a band we’ve decided, moving forward, that we’re just going to go by the acronym “GBAD”z It’s been the staple through the past of this band and it just feels right.
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
It’s very much a group effort both lyrically and musically. Most of the songs reflect the current personal struggles of the lyricist at the time. As time goes on and life throws its curveballs I definitely see subject matter changing.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
We pull influence from a lot of different artists. Everyone from top of the charts artists, to other locals in our area.
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
I know we each have our definitive moments and artists for sure. My personal inspiration has to be that of all the 80’s metal bands I was raised on. Definitely made me want to pursue getting into a band and on stage.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …
The band has a ritual of singing “Drop Em out” by Wheeler Walker Jr. before getting on stage. Our manager got us doing it and it definitely turns some heads from other bands backstage.
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
The highlight so far has been our comeback to the scene. We’ve shared the stage with some great locals as well as the likes of “Cane Hill” and “He Is Legend”
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
Quite a few honestly. Our buddies No Ghost, Depressor, Left to Suffer, Six, and several others from here in Atlanta would be killer to tour with. Great dudes, great music, and a wild tour for sure. Some other home town heroes would be Norma Jean, Attila, Mastodon, the list goes on and on. We’re always down to meet new people and artists and would be down to tour and party with any of them.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
We have an album on the way that’ll be dropping soon! We are going to be coming back hard this year and cannot wait to hang and rage with all y’all soon!
