For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Devour The Innocent? How long has the band been around?
No other bands really, we got together the beginning of 2011.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
It's just something we came up with.
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
We all kinda write our own parts and then make sure it all goes together. There's no real theme in the songs that we go for, musically or lyrically...as long as it sounds good to us.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
Well, not so much currently, but actual metalcore from the early-ish 2000s. Early bullet for my Valentine, killswitch engage, trivium, and all that remains...mostly.
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
Probably the bands from before I guess. And just wanting to write music and perform.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …
Varies by member...I (Randy) do some stretching and warm up stuff to, hopefully, make sure I'm loosened up so I don't suck at drums. Ethan does vocal warm ups.
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
There's been a couple...our show with project independent that was streamed live was pretty awesome.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
Megadeth...cause they're awesome...
Is there anything else you would like to add?
We started in 2011 with me (Randy) playing drums and doing vocals...then we found a drummer, but he quit after a year, so now I've taken up drumming again and Ethan has joined to do vocals. We're in the process of writing a some new material so keep an eye out on our Facebook page.
