REVIEW & PHOTO GALLERY: Halestorm with LIta Ford & Dorothy- Indianapolis 4.30.16

Indianapolis, IN 4.30.2016-

Girls. That. ROCK. That pretty much sums up what people at the Egyptian Room at Old National Centre in Indianapolis, IN witnessed Saturday night. The large room was packed with people of all ages and types for the last day of Halestorm's headlining tour.

First up on the stage was Dorothy- a woman who "gives no f--ks" (quoted from Lzzy Hale). Dorothy- an act based out of Los Angeles- brought the West Coast rock n' roll attitude. She reminded me of the bands I used to see at the House of Blues in West Hollywood. Dorothy powered the crowd up with her booming, strong voice and sexy grit. Dorothy was the perfect choice as the opening act. The combination of covers and original songs made Dorothy a winner for this crowd.

Up next was the one, the only, the legend- Lita Ford. Holy Moly. Woman can shred! Lita Ford is no stranger to rock and roll and those that love rock and roll are no stranger to Lita Ford.

Lita Ford brought back the classic rock and roll sound to the Egyptian Room. The crowd went insane as Lita and her band commanded the stage. During her set, Lita gave a shout out in memory of Lemmy Kilmister before starting an insane cover of Motörhead's "Runaround Man". That's when the crowd lost their minds. As the song wound down, Lita gave the stage to her drummer- Bobby Rock. Bobby Rock pounded the drums for an amazing solo. His kit was even chained to bend as he hammered away. The band came back on to finish the song with Bobby Rock, epically ended the tribute to Lemmy. Lita Ford's set was definitely one to remember.

And last but not least- HALESTORM. What. An. Act. The set started off with Lzzy playing the piano solo. Her voice resonated across the room. When she wrapped up, Lzzy strapped on the guitar and that's when the real fun began. The first drumbeat of "Apocalyptic" drove the crowd wild. Despite this being the last show of the tour, Lzzy's voice still sounded completely amazing. This show proved Lzzy is one of the best voices in the rock scene- or music in general. Her tonality was on point.

One thing I miss about rock shows is a good ol' fashioned drum solo.  Well, Arejay Hale had a surprise- but there was nothing ol' fashioned about it. He banged on his kit, ramping up the crowd into a frenzy, then brought out Bobby King. Bobby took over the kit and Arejay suddenly appeared with quads. That's right- QUADS. Zach (Dorothy's drummer) then took over the quads as Arejay hopped back on his kit. All three jammed so hard and I've never seen the crowd so into a drum solo. If you missed it, you missed something definitely amazing.

One takeaway, aside from people getting their faces melted off by these incredible acts, is when Lzzy discussed "women who are unapologetic about who they want to be" and following dreams. These three women definitely haven't and shouldn't apologize for who they are. They are inspiring to many people, not just girls. I hope anyone gets a chance to see Halestorm live. The band is taking over and you should join the ride!
