Soulful indie-folk foursome Pebaluna have announced plans to release their debut studio album, Carny Life, on September 18.  Listen to the debut track, “No, I Can’t,” now at http://soundcloud.com/pebaluna/noicant.

Pebaluna songstress Lauren Coleman found her stirring voice at a young age, singing in a Las Vegas church choir and training her ear listening to Aretha Franklin in her parents’ car.  It was only a matter of time before falling in love with musical instruments like the ukulele and guitar which she quickly picked up and began writing original music.
Coleman teamed up with Matt Embree (RX Bandits, The Sound of Animals Fighting) and began making music in Embree’s makeshift garage/studio under the name Pebaluna.   After the addition of drummer Jessica Lankford and bassist Jonathan Grillo, the group began work on their debut album, Carny Life.
Carny Life chronicles Coleman’s personal experiences of heartache and hard-fought battles with self that are deeply ingrained within the lyrics and music.  With Embree’s highly skilled songwriting skills combined with Coleman’s passionate vocals and guitar play, along with the help of Lankford and Grillo, Pebaluna’s debut is quite impressive to say the least.
Pebaluna will be performing a handful of dates leading up to the release of the album.  Stay tuned to https://www.facebook.com/Pebaluna for more information!

Boston, MA based We Are Triumphant records has entered into an exclusive, worldwide distribution and merchandising agreement with Victory Records. We Are Triumphant was founded by Greg Long in early 2010 as an artist management service. The label made its debut merely 9 months ago and has already made a strong imprint on the music community for multiple genres.

We Are Triumphant is fueled by a relentless passion for releasing top notch records by the music scenes’ best kept secrets. With the newly established support of Victory Records WAT sees their artists trampling the industry and turning heads in a big way as it welcomes more fans and followers to the herd. Tony Brummel, Founder of Victory Records said, “Greg finds great bands and has a real vision for what he is doing. We have had the pleasure of helping labels like Rise Records, Standby Records and Sumerian get established from their beginnings. I am confident that We Are Triumphant will blossom quickly and see great success.”

We Are Triumphant will be releasing pivotal new records from Dweller, Narrow Hearts, Neck Deep, Freaks, I Am Intention, Endless and more to close out 2012.

Claudio Sanchez, lead singer of progressive rock band Coheed and Cambria and Evil Ink Comics have partnered with Stephen Levinson’s Leverage Productions (Boardwalk Empire, Entourage, Contraband) and Mark Wahlberg to develop their graphic novel series The Amory Wars into a live-action feature film. It was announced at this past weekend’s Comic-Con International, held in San Diego. Following this announcement, Coheed and Cambria will embark on a North American tour with Iron Maiden, which kicks off July 24 in Winnipeg, Canada, and sees the band also making stops at both Reading and Leeds Festivals before ending in Charlotte, NC September 16.

“The relationship with Leverage is one we’ve been searching for,” says Sanchez. “They do amazing, proactive work and are genuinely as passionate about this story as we are, which is essential for such a multi-dimensional title like The Amory Wars. We’re beyond excited.”

The Amory Wars, a sci-fi saga published by Boom! Studios, which reached #4 on the New York Times Bestseller List for graphic books, was originally created by Sanchez to serve as inspiration for the group’s albums. He later expanded the mythology to other mediums, including comic books and graphic novels. In 2010, Sanchez collaborated with luminary genre writer Peter David (The Incredible Hulk, Aquaman) to write a full-length prose novel, Year of the Black Rainbow, which told the origin story of the series, and was released in conjunction with the band’s album of the same name.

An epic fantasy set in a futuristic alternate universe, The Amory Wars chronicles the rise of superhuman dictator Wilhelm Ryan, and the one family that could hold the key to liberating the world from his tyrannical reign.

Coheed and Cambria fans have much to look forward to with the upcoming film and summer tour dates, and can anticipate a new album from the band to drop this fall.

Pierce The Veil - Collide With The Sky
Record Label: Fearless Records
Release Date: July 17th, 2012

Pierce the Veil is breaking down walls with their 3rd album, Collide With The Sky, announced for the first time back in December of last year. Earlier this year in February, they updated us all on the producers they’d chosen to work with, Dan Korneff and Kato Khandwala from House of Loud in New Jersey. I have to give them all a round of applause, because the album came out awesome. When I heard PTV for the first time ever, I was automatically drawn to Vic Fuentes’ unique vocals and the exciting instrumentals the band offers. Thankfully, the band kept this same edge-of-the-seat sound for the new album - a fantastic display of the energy they’ve always had, and even added a bit more heaviness. The first single released off the new album back in early June, ‘King for a Day’, really allowed every band member to shine, even with guest feature Kellin Quinn from Sleeping with Sirens. As I kept listening, I noticed this is a reoccurring theme with each song, where every one gets to show off without drowning the others out. This is exactly where a good song comes from, so others should be taking notes.

It seems to be a popular new addition for a handful of bands, so yes, some electronics make their way into Collide With The Sky. But if that’s not your thing, have no fear, because it’s not an over whelming amount and it fuses into their structure really well. Not only are synths and electronics found on a few tracks, but they’ve added some moderate breakdowns in their heavier songs, as heard in track number 7, “Tangled In The Great Escape” featuring Jason Butler of letlive (who has a great voice that complements Vic’s very well). I’ve got a feeling this will go over really well with mosh-lover fans like myself, it certainly doesn’t bother me. The best part is that even with these newer sounds mixed in, you’re going to want to keep the album playing on repeat anyway. The band has a truly captivating sound.

It wouldn’t be settling if I told you not to check out all 12 new songs on the album, but hey, if that’s not your plan, definitely look into “I’m Low on Gas and You Need a Jacket” and “Hell Above,” which happen to be my favorites. Luckily for all of us, PTV’s infectious sound and energy is currently present on the Van’s Warped Tour, which still has a good month or so left to it. I’m sure they’ll put on a sweet show for their fans. I haven’t seen any setlists from the tour with any new songs besides “King For a Day,” but who knows, they could surprise us. So make sure to go and check them out if you’re planning on attending!
