International videogame company Capcom, in close collaboration with Ninja Theory, has announced that Dutch electronic music trio NOISIA has composed the music for the upcoming DmC Devil May Cry videogame out January 2013. NOISIA’s specially curated music will be heard during the title’s cinematics and gameplay, including combat. NOISIA created over three hours of original music for DmC Devil May Cry and have been working on this project for over a year. NOISIA’s previous videogame soundtrack work includes their track “Groundhog” on DJ Hero; “Machine Gun” and “Seven Stitches” featured in three editions of the game WipEout; and “Stigma” and “Yellow Brick” featured on Gran Turismo. They were also commissioned to make eight remixes especially for MotorStorm: Apocalypse; the tracks will be released as free downloads on NOISIA’s Facebook page once they reach 300,000 likes at https://www.facebook.com/noisia/?sk=app_389514974442774.
Says NOISIA: “It’s been an awesome experience working with Ninja Theory on the game. We had great freedom but were also bound by certain criteria typical in the game world. These are challenging boundaries (for example; consistency in sonics over 180 minutes of music) but also lots of space in terms of dynamics & progression and instrumentation, being able to create soundscapes without having to worry about holding the attention of a dancefloor. Their music director was great to work with, good vibes. It’s great when you get to play to your strengths. Also, the game kicks ass!”

Set in a contemporary world setting, DmC Devil May Cry re-imagines the original story of Dante, the brash protagonist of the Devil May Cry series. DmC Devil May Cry is developed by the award-winning studio Ninja Theory in collaboration with Capcom, overseen by senior team members from previous Devil May Cry titles.
NOISIA has kept busy in 2012. Following major performances at this year’s Coachella and Electric Daisy Carnival festivals, NOISIA recently premiered the video for “Tommy’s Theme” on MTV Clubland and mtvU. Watch the “Tommy’s Theme” video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjbiMXfe2NU.
Earlier this year, NOISIA re-released their debut album SPLIT THE ATOM: SPECIAL EDITION via the deadmau5-helmed mau5trap Recordings. A groundbreaking release in their career, Split the Atom illustrates the gamut of NOISIA’s abilities as electronic artists with tracks highlighting their production prowess in the realms of drum ‘n’ bass, electro house and breaks. SPLIT THE ATOM: SPECIAL EDITION takes that mentality to a whole new level featuring new material from NOISIA and hard-banging remixes from some of today’s most in-demand and up-and-coming electronic artists, including Kill The Noise, Moombahton star Munchi, dubstep kingpins Excision & Datsik, 16bit, The Upbeats, Posij, Loadstar and many more. The band’s statement is below
First of all, thanks to everyone who has reached out in support of Randy and each of us in this terrible situation. It’s noted and very much appreciated. We have been keeping our heads down and not speaking out due to the fluid nature of the situation and the constantly changing information that even we receive daily. Within an hour things can do endless 180’s. It’s maddening to try and make heads or tails. We’re taking the time to speak to you as it has been a significant period of time since this situation began and while nothing is immediately clear to any of us, we are not trying to keep anyone in the dark. We have reached out and are making use of the resources we have acquired to help our brother who is still detained in Czech jail. In the two years since, we were never notified of anything related to this incident. Randy is our brother and we assure you, we are all staying very positive for him, working endlessly behind the scenes to provide any and all assistance possible. The best we can do is to stay positive and continue to support our friend that we know is innocent. We know that justice will prevail and we will continue to do our part to support our friend.
Abigail Williams will be breaking up after their upcoming U.S. tour. A message from the band is below
After much consideration we have decided to make these upcoming Abigail Williams shows our last US tour. This was a very hard decision to make but feels absolutely necessary at this point. I’ve had the best times of my life with this band and learned so much about what I want to do with music as well as what I don’t like about the industry etc and we honestly feel like its best to put the band to rest after making what we feel to be our very best album. Im honestly just feeling satisfied with everything we have done as Abigail Williams and I feel ready to put it to rest. We want everyone to know this has nothing to do with differences inside the band as we are still very much a family and these are still the same people I want to make music with now and in the future.
We think that 2012 is the perfect year for new beginnings and we definitely plan to put music out later this year in the form of a new band(s). It would be easy to give people the names to our new projects here but rather than capitalize off this announcement we would rather word get out naturally starting with our friends when the time is right. We want to thank our friends and fans who have supported us through the good and bad times over the years, we know its been a very bumpy road at times. We are still very dedicated to making music and this change will actually allow us to do more of what we want to do and be more productive. We hope to see everyone on the road for this tour that we booked DIY for the most part by ourselves. The dates are below even though some of them are still waiting to be confirmed. If you’re a fan of pure British indie who’ve captured the essence of quintessential British music and put a contemporary twist on it, then Kartica are for you. They’ve recently been making waves in the music industry, winning critical acclaim for their latest single ‘Don’t You Think So?’ and also, proving to be a stunning band to catch live.
NME has stated that they’re “Solid Sheffield Indie Rock” whilst The Silver Tongue over in the US have, “Kartica proves they have the proficiency and drive to be magnificent in their own right”. Whilst riding on such fantastic reviews, the band have decided to give away one of the bonus B-sides that come along side ‘Don’t You Think So?’, which makes it’s a tantalising package. Kartica are giving away ‘Wider Eyes’ for you all to enjoy.

Deftones are mixing their next album, and hope to release it in early October.
"It’s not a super fast or slow record. It’s very dynamic," Moreno tells Billboard.com. "Some of my favorite things about Deftones are the dynamics. Yes, we’re a heavy band, but we’re not just in-your-face aggro the whole time, punching you in the face. There’s a lot of aggression in some of the music, but there’s also this very soothing element where there’s a lot of soundscapes rather than attack, attack, attack the whole time. I understand that’s a big part of our sound, but I really feel like we reached a peak on our dynamics on this record with those two qualities — the beauty of something and just straight, ruthless aggression."

Carly Fanning (ex-Kenotia vocalist) gives us the low down on her new band’s record, Close to Home out now on iTunes and BandCamp.
In the Beginning, There Were Voices
We actually wrote this over a year ago, and we were coming off a heavy Game of Thrones kick. We were really just screwing around but in the back of my mind, I knew I wanted to use it eventually, and when we wrote the rest of the album, it worked in a weird way. So we put in on the album as the intro.
A World Away
This is the first official song we wrote together for this project. As far as the meaning goes, technically, at the time I was having a lot of dreams about a little kid, and it took me a couple of weeks of having this dream before I realized it was supposed to be my child. I ended up waking up in the morning sad that the dream was over, so I wrote this song. But obviously, that’s not a general feeling that everybody has so I wrote it in a way that could be interpreted any way you wanted to. Hopefully I pulled that off…..
Try
Try is a song close to my heart, and it’s really just about struggling in a relationship, whether it’s family, friends or significant other. It’s about feeling like you’ve put so much in and get little to nothing back and you start to realize it’s not ever going to change. It’s definitely not the happiest song, but I think it’s very important to get out those negative feelings. Coincidentally, it was also one of the hardest songs to sing for some reason. I did 4 or 5 versions of it over the span of 6 months and finally got it down to something I was happy with.
The Edge
Shawn actually came to me with the music already written and done on this one. It was one of the most fun to do because it’s different from the other songs on the album and most of the songs I’ve done previous to this. I was definitely seeing Mark Wahlberg in Rockstar the whole time I was recording this. It’s probably one of my two favorites on the album. For a minute the music threw me because it was so upbeat and I felt like I had nothing positive to say at the moment, but it ended up working for me. The song is just about the past few years and working in the music industry and basically how I haven’t gotten where I hoped I would, but even though it’s been difficult, I still believe I am supposed to do this. Fingers crossed!!!
Free the Flower Child
This song about killed me. Emotionally I’ve never had such a problem finishing a song but this one took me a long time. We worked on this for close to a year and didn’t get it right until two days before we put out the album. Last year my family lost a close friend very suddenly and we all had a rough time with it. I had written a few songs about how I was feeling and they were so horribly dark and depressing, I just couldn’t finish them. So I finally decided to write as if she were talking to me and what I’d like to hear her say. I had to take quite a few breaks while working on this but I knew the last time I heard it, that it was done. I still have a hard time hearing it though.
Shouting at Satellites
I love this song. It came out so easy once we started, I love it when that happens. The song is about my anxiety, basically. I injured myself a little while ago and it turned out not to be so bad but had the potential to be irreversible and ever since then, my anxiety has been through the roof. It’s just me questioning some of the rotten things in life and saying that sometimes I feel like no matter how much I ask for answers, or peace, I can’t find it and it feels like I may as well be shouting at satellites because nobody hears me. That’s also the reason we chose that as the name for the band.
Let’s Be Honest
The last song on the album was actually a surprise. We had everything else recorded and we were messing around with pro-tools one day and this was the result. It was completely random and not meant for the album but once it was done, it just fit. Without sounding cheesy, this is one of the most honest songs on the album, it reveals the most of me. I talk about times where I’ve been way too selfish, and disgustingly jealous of other people and about the fact that every day I have to fight those feelings to make myself the person I hope to be. The whole point of it though, is to let everyone know…hey, EVERYBODY feels this way. EVERYBODY has done these horrible things that they won’t share with other people and had feelings they are ashamed to share, but it’s not that stuff that makes you who you are, it’s how you bounce back and deal with all that. It’s the stuff you choose to do with those feelings that can make you bad or good. And if everybody truly WAS honest about themselves….maybe things would be a little easier?
