Why Kesha's Latest Release Is So Important

Just shy of a week ago, Kesha released music for the first time since her very public battle against Dr.Luke. "Praying" is off of her upcoming album Rainbow, and this song is here to make a statement. "Praying" is the big reveal of Kesha's metamorphosis, now unleashing her true voice and letting her spirit show.

This single is unlike any Kesha song you've heard before...this is REAL, raw. Vocally, she showcases a side we've never seen before that is also more pure and true to her; she even lets out a stunning high note that you'd expect from follow lady boss Ariana Grande. But this song is important for so much more than her finally showcasing her genuine talents, it's much bigger than that.

Kesha's struggles and battle with her producer, Dr. Luke were very public and after suffering in silence for years, Kesha finally faced her demon head on. While the case may not have originally gone as wanted, it is clear that she has been able to heal and grow since. "Praying" is her way of moving forward, and being stronger. This song is going to be an anthem for trauma survivors everywhere. It's easy to be angry, bitter, and let your body rot with hate, but Kesha is daring to do the opposite here. She's choosing moral high-ground and seeking real healing. She wishes her abuser well, and hopes that he can find the help he needs to become a better human. If that is not courage and strength then I can not tell you what is. She is letting the world know that she's better than ever, and that she truly is stronger than her abuser.

Everything about the release of "Praying" was beautifully done. From her bearing her soul, to the alluring colors and sparkles, to her stripped down, stunning vocals, this release was what the world needed. Check out the music video for "Praying" below! (fair warning, grab some tissues before you do)
