Vatic Release New Single, "217"

Melbourne metalcore outfit Vatic lead us down sinister paths with their haunted house inspired cut "217".

Pairing cinematic textures with layers of crushing guitars alongside a barrage of manic screams that offer a counterpoint to the haunting and yearning melodies, Vatic paint the sonic representation for their perfect horror film. Produced, mixed and mastered alongside long time collaborator, Nick Sjogren (Thornhill), "217" is the first taste of new music from Vatic in 2022, who have been working hard on the follow up to their debut EP, 'Inhibition'.

"217" narrates the story of a protagonist named Chance, whose unfortunate tale takes place at 217 East Mercer, a haunted house grappled by sleepless souls. Accompanied with visuals by NJV media, the music video presents an energetic and glitchy music video immersed deep within the setting of the song.

Vocalist Matt Payne details, "217 sets the scene around this haunted house, where most of our story takes place. There are holes in the walls and floors where bodies are hiding, their souls wandering the house, never sleeping. 217 is actually the haunted room from The Overlook Hotel in The Shining, but they had to change it for the movie so people wouldn't be too scared staying in the real 217 all together, which I thought was funny. If 217 East Mercer was also real, I probably wouldn't stay there either...".

This weekend Vatic will be jumping to support fellow Melbourne metal outfit LUNE alongside Anticline and Empire Within at Melbourne’s Everlyn Hotel. Presented by Destroy All Lines and Lost Soul Bookings, Vatic will launch their new single live in its appropriate setting. Tickets are available via Oztix.

Beginning in 2018, Vatic have built their foundations creating sonically dark and gloomy backdrops that balance their bittersweet, melodic choruses with aggressive and tormented screams. The band exists with the longstanding lineup of Matt Payne (vocals), Dylan Houston (drums) , Zakary Luttrell (bass/vocals), Dinesh Senaratna (guitar) and Adam Bonnefin (guitar). The quintet have expanded their following with the help of their electric live show, where they have previously joined the likes of Australian alternative heavyweights including Thornhill, Bloom, Diamond Construct, Void of Vision, Pridelands and more.

The quintet have developed and refined their sound over the years, placing their listeners in a daze of melancholic atmosphere and unrelenting guitar riffs that pierce through the guise of industrial breakdowns and grooves, giving plenty more to be expected from Vatic in 2022.
