For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Write Home? How long has the band been around?
In high school we went by the name Of Burning Empires, and shortly after we rebranded and went by Vesuvius. Write Home has been in the works for about a year, but we’ve just launched publicly in February.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
Yes! See previous question. The origin doesn’t have a whole lot of significance. We try to write emotional heartfelt music, and wanted the name to reflect that.
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
I (Billy) write the instrumentals, and then then we all collaborate together on lyrics and vocal melodies. We all live together and have our own little studio space which makes this very easy.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
The 1975, 30 Seconds to Mars, Pvris. Those are some of our favorites right now.
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
I would say Avenged Sevenfold is a big one for a couple of us. I don’t know if there was one band that made me want to form a band specifically, but hearing their music really ignited my passion for music and from there I only dug deeper into finding similar artist and developing my musical identity.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …
We haven’t played in a while, but we never did anything crazy. Maybe some mild stretching and pounding back a beer or two...
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
Well, since we’ve just begun I guess I’ll say releasing our music video that we’ve been very anxious to release for a while now. It was also nice to have Alternative Press onboard with premiering it.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
So many. The 1975, Bring Me the Horizon, 30 Seconds to Mars, State Champs. Maybe I’ll throw Mötley Crüe in there, we’re always up for a party.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Thank you guys for the interview. Thank you to everyone that has checked out our debut single, and if you haven’t you can give it a listen at www.writehomeband.com. Peace and love 💕
