For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Trevor James? How long has the band been around?
We were not in any other bands before. We would perform and tour with other artist from gospel to pop artists. We have known each other for years but in the past two years decided it was time to put a band together since most of the time we would all be on the same gig performing with certain artists.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
We don't have an actual band name. Since I am the one that writes and produces all of my music its just called "Trevor James" which is my name.
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
I write all the songs. The topics are manly relationship orientated, music that everybody can relate to. They could possibly change in the future but I wouldn't say to drastically.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
For me I would say Maroon 5, Lenny Kravitz, John Mayer, Gary Clark Jr would be my inspiration to my music.
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
I would say the first time i watched John Mayer's "Any Given Thursday" DVD and a Sade concert I knew this was the path I wanted to be on.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, etc …
I tend to just laze around, try to be as relaxed as I can before I perform. A lot of quite time so I can center my mind before I go out on stage.
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
So far getting chosen to perform on "Jam in the Van"
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
Lenny Kravitz would be a band I would love to open for or Guns and Roses. They have incredible energy with massive crowds.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I hope to continue to write music that is relate-able and that people can groove and vibe to them for decades.
