Unsigned Spotlight: Till I Fall

Till I Fall is an alternative/pop rock band from San Jose, CA.

Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.

Brandon Leland-Vocals, Lyrics, Rhythm Guitar
Zax Avila-Additional Vocals, Lead Guitar
Anthony Corrigan-Bass
Scott Deimler-Drums

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Till I Fall? How long has the band been around?

All four of us have been in a few different bands; Zax sang in a Ska band called Poor AJ, Anthony has a solo project called Sailing South, Brandon played in a Pop Punk/Ska band called Tom’s Revenge, and Scott played in a few different bands, most recent outside of TiF was Driftwood Sin ,a Metal band. Till i Fall has been releasing music since 2011.

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

TiF started as a solo adventure and at the time of deciding a name I wanted to try and come up with something that represented the sort of mindset or goal for the music. It’s just the headspace of being determined or consumed by your passion.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

Zax and I (Brandon) do the majority of the writing. Typically Zax will begin getting chords together and we will build it from there, occasionally I’ll write a format and bring it to him for adding more sounds and layers too. We try our best to represent ourselves, experiences and perspectives through the lyrics and music, so most definitely the topics change over time. Whether its personal matters or social or political or whatever, we just try our best to make it real and honest.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

Incubus, Foo Fighters, 311, Third Eye Blind, and Paramore.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

For me it would be Elton John. I got to see him live when I was 5 years old and it completely drew me in to the power of music.

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …

We each have our own pre show routine! Vocal warmups, playing scales on guitar/bass, stretching, staying hydrated!

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

Very tough question! Touring with Stickup Kid and Glacier Veins last year was really fun and rewarding on a personal level. We’re big fans of their music and they’re all really good people!

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

Oooh probably Paramore or Stevie Nicks. Or Tupac….or Snoop...or….

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Thanks for taking your time to send us these questions and for listening!
