For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Them Devils? How long has the band been around?
We've all been in and out of bands, but none that anyone would even known. Them Evils is the biggest project any of us have ever been a part of. The band has been around for 2 years and we're all amazed by the attention we've been receiving.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
It's kind of funny how we got our name. Jordan's mom was sending a text message to someone and was trying to type the city Temecula. She spelt it wrong and her phone auto-corrected it to Them Evils. She told us about it and we all thought it was pretty badass!
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
Jordan comes up with a cool guitar riff and then everything else tends to build all around that. We all write lyrics together though.
As far as themes go... drinking, fucking, struggling, paying rent. We're still evolving, so who knows what will lyrically inspire us later on.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Motorhead, Guns N Roses, Wolfmother, Queens of the Stone Age, Rival Sons, Jack White, and the list goes on.
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
Jordan - I saw Green Day when I was 4 years old. Ever since then I knew music was what I wanted to persue.
David - Jefferson Airplane's song Somebody to Love. When I was 3 I used to reenact the scene in "The Cable Guy" where Jim Carrey did a karaoke cover of that song. I knew I wanted to be entertainer.
Jake - When I saw the Fat Lip video from Sum 41, it changed me!
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …
Chug whiskey...and Jordan does some vocal warm-ups
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
We just played the Louder Than Life Fest in October. It was such a surreal experience. The lineup was stacked and we all got to meet some of our personal heroes! Big shout out to Danny Wimmer for having us on the festival.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
Jordan - Led Zeppelin. They're the greatest rock n roll band of all fucking time!
Jake - AC/DC because I don't think it gets better than that! Our music would appeal to their fan base.
David - Queens of the Stone Age! Don't get me wrong, I love all the classical bands the have a huge influence on us. QOTSA, however, is a band that I'm constantly going back too. Their entire discography is amazing.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
We're hitting the road with The Pretty Reckless on their US Fall Tour supporting their new album "Who You Selling For". Come out and party with us!!
