For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to The Revel? How long has the band been around?
Dean and I (Dillon) have always been in and out of local bands for years. Finally, after some time and learning how bands work, Dean and I created The Revel. The Revel has been around since 2017.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
The Revel is an embodiment of Rock and Roll, and Rock and Roll is about being lively, noisy, and having a good time which is what revel means. It also is an embodiment of personalities as well making the name a perfect fit.
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
Dean and I (Dillon) are always writing. We also write with Jimmy Gnecco (Ours). The EP itself is about going through romantic relationships and covering all sorts of emotion that comes with it. Over time with new life experiences, sure our topics will change. It’s just a natural progression.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
The Black Crowes, Aerosmith, U2, Oasis, The Rolling Stones, Jack White.
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
It was always in mine (Dillon) and Dean’s heart and spirit. Growing up we were always surrounded by great music. We would watch concert videos, listen to albums, and go to some great live performances. And one day we just started playing and putting the pieces together.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, etc …
It depends on the show, but Dean always goes through his vocal warmups and I (Dillon) always try to warm up with finger exercises, as well as everyone else just warming up for the show.
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
We have been fortunate to play many great shows with some amazing acts. The biggest show we have had to this date was opening for Bon Jovi at the Prudential Center in NJ.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
The Rolling Stones but especially in the 70’s. They were just breaking barriers on what could be done during a live show and our vibes and sound would have made a great bill. Also, Rival Son’s, Royal Blood, Queens of The Stone Age, Cage The Elephant all have an amazing sounds, cool vibes, and great live show.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Don’t Let Me Go EP is out now and available on all platforms. Check out or website for upcoming tour dates.
