Unsigned Spotlight: Stefan T

After graduating from Berklee, Stefan moved to Los Angeles from his hometown of Las Vegas, working at several studios and on his own personal releases as Stefan T.

Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.

Stefan Tisminezky - Guitarist, Vocalist, Bassist, Drum Programmer, Synth Design/Programming, Producer, Songwriter, and Recording/Mix/Mastering Engineer.

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Stefan T? How long has the band been around?

I’ve gone by different aliases in the past like The Saint Machine (for my more avant-garde/heavy electronic stuff.) I started the Stefan T project around the end of 2019.

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

I enjoy using multiple aliases for different styled projects so in a way, yes, the band name changes. The origin of Stefan T is that its my name lol.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

I try to collaborate with as many different songwriters as much as possible. And when I can’t collaborate, I’ll just wing it with the lyrics and write them myself. I start by creating an instrumental arrangement that tells its own story, and then I throw whatever lyrics on top of that as an interpretation of said story. For the songs that I personally write the lyrics for, there are recurring themes of intro/retrospection, isolation, and love. I’m sure that the themes in my lyrics will change overtime because of artistic growth and all that jazz.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

Burial, Thom Yorke/Radiohead, Meshuggah, Bonobo

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

I think it’s the culmination of every artist/band/concert that I’ve enjoyed over the years that have shaped me into what I am today as an artist. Honestly, too many to list. But I have seen Meshuggah live on multiple occasions, by far my favorite show.

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, etc …

I have a nervous breakdown/mild anxiety attack.

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

This first album will be the biggest highlight of the Stefan T project.

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

I wouldn’t mind being an opener for Thom Yorke or anyone on Brainfeeder.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

DM me if you or a loved one has been diagnosed with Mesothelioma, you may be entitled to financial compensation  ;) @stefantofficial
