Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.
Just me in all of the roles trying not to get multiple personality disorder.
For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Riley Flood? How long has the band been around?
I was originally in a group called Nylon Lyonn, which was active until about a year ago when I began my solo project.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
My parents gave it to me when I was born and I’ve stuck with it ever since
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
I write all of the lyrics and music. A lot of my songs end up being about love interests of mine from some time or another, but a lot of the themes are about being young and making ill-advised decisions. Hopefully I’ll stop making ill-advised decisions someday and I’ll expand my thematic repertoire. I have aspirations of making more political and socially aware music at some point.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
Tame Impala and Arctic Monkeys are the big two for me, but the list goes on, Wavves, Dr. Dog, Temples, Animal Collective, My Morning Jacket, Anderson .Paak to name a few.
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
When I was 15 I saw the Arctic Monkeys music video for “Fake Tales of San Francisco”, they weren’t too much older than me and they were relatable. It looked like a lot of fun when they were doing it so I figured I’d give it a whirl, and here I am 7 years later.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …
I usually just like to have a beer and go through guitar exercises, no crazy goat sacrificing or anything.
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
I told Courtney Taylor-Taylor he was using the wrong door.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
Led Zeppelin and The Who, Assuming that John Bonham and Keith Moon came back as zombies, those two bands just seem like the ultimate party tour to me.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
