Unsigned Spotlight: Raven King

Rhythmically intriguing and poetically profound, Raven King has a sound that is striking to the ear. The eccentric musical duo defies any certain genre-type, pulling different styles of rock, grunge, indie, and groove into their music.

Congrats on the upcoming release of your album! How long has this been in the making?

Thanks! Because life is always complicated, the whole experience has been a bit of a blur honestly. It’s hard to give a straight answer to the time aspect, since like everything else, covid interrupted; but, maybe 2 years, front to back? That’s at least the production part. The songs themselves started a little before?

What led you to the title you chose, Veni Vedi Verti?

It’s latin for “I came, I saw, I turned around,” which we thought was funny.

What are you most excited for when it comes to people finally getting to hear Veni Vedi Verti?

I feel like we’re coming into our sound a bit more on this album, so I think that is kinda exciting.

What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

For my tracks, I think coping with loss in its typical forms (love, hope, life, etc) definitely made frequent appearances. Will is definitely a bit more humorous in a sardonic kind of way. Yeah, they will change with time.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

Metz, Ovlov, Raketkanon, Cherry Glazer, Graveyard,  just to name a few. The old favorites are still there too of course.

What’s the first concert you remember being WOWed by?

There’s honestly been so many. Maybe it was Do Make Say Think?

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any pre-show rituals?

Haha, we’re getting old, so: stretching.

What are you most looking forward to as a band in 2022?

Getting back to playing live.

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

Maybe Soundgarden? They managed to be complete legends while seeming to not be unpleasant to be around.

Thanks for chatting with us! Where can fans find you?

On the internets, socials, etc.

Website I Spotify I Instagram

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Thank you!
