Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.
What’s up guys! This is Tim Graham (Vocals), DJ Sundine (Guitar/vocals), Frank Woronoff (Drums), Brad Stewart (Bass), and Dave Garner (Guitar) and we are Owleye from Denver CO.
For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Owleye? How long has the band been around?
We were all in some smaller bands that really didn’t do anything. Owleye is really everyone’s first band from our perspective.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
The band originally was called I Will Lie, then was quickly changed to Owleye. The name really came to be because it was so similar to the first name but we all respect the Owl and the overall symbolism it carries with the species.
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
Primarily DJ, Tim and Frank write the core music in the band. For the most part this EP was about different struggles in life and how to find the light in shitty situations. The topics are for sure going to be changing with our new material to talk on some topics we feel are needed to be talked about and given a voice. Our writing is maturing for the most part.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
Really all music inspires us but to pinpoint something that has really been getting us going lately is Silent Planet and Normandie’s new albums. Just beautiful albums to be honest.
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
I know personally for me (Tim) it was Underoath that inspired me to this genre and wanting to be in a band, then seeing Chiodos and Craig Owens for the first time really inspired me to become a vocalist and front man.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …
We all stretch our shit out because limbering up is guideline #1 unless you want to pull a hammy. But really we just smile a lot and have a good time, cause if you’re having a good day then you will have fun on stage and the audience can truly feel the happiness.
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
I mean just putting out our EP ‘No Wounds” was a great feeling and it’s only up from here.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
I would want to say Silent Planet would be super awesome to tour with because they are such good musicians and people in general. If we could open for Silent Planet and Underoath on a tour I would die a happy man.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Keep an eye out for us coming to your city very soon and if you haven’t yet give No Wounds a listen on Spotify or iTunes. Much love and thank you for having us!
