Unsigned Spotlight: Orbit Culture

Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.

Niklas Karlsson – Guitar, Vocals

Richard Hansson – Guitar

Fredrik Lennartsson – Bass

Markus Bladh - Drums

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Orbit Culture?

I’ve only been in projects not worthy of mentioning, Haha. But I know Markus played in another local band called Abstract Noise before Orbit Culture saw the light of day. Also, Richard plays in a hardcore band Straight A’s next to playing with Orbit Culture and Fredrik was in another local band called People In Distress.

How long has the band been around?

In March, 2017 we will celebrate four years.

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

We used a band name generator online to come up with the name so there’s not really a background or message behind it.

No, we haven’t changed it but we really want too, Haha.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

For all of our previous work, I’ve been the main writer. However, that will hopefully change since we got Fredrik and Richard onboard now. The main topics are living with anxiety but we tend to throw in some fantasy-shit in there too, Haha. I think the topics will change all the time, you get inspired by all sorts of things as you go further in life.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

Right now, it has to be the Bay Area thrash metal. But it changes all the time, for good and bad.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

If we go back in time, long before the band came to be, it has to be Metallica. But at the time we became a band, it was definitely Gojira.

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …

A quick trip to toilet and one beer, then you’re ready to go.

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

Our video for our song ‘Sun Of All’ reaching 15,000 plays on YouTube. That’s really cool.

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

Gojira would be really cool. But touring with bands like Behemoth and Lamb of God would also be stellar.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Make sure to check out our latest album ‘Rasen’ on your favorite streaming platform along with checking out our brand-new cover of Metallica’s ‘Hardwired’ right here; http://bit.ly/orbitculturehardwired

Thanks!

/Niklas,

Orbit Culture
