For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to My Life On Film? How long has the band been around?
Well, Mike and I (Sean J) were in small pop punk band for about a year before MLOF, and John and SG had never been in a real band before this one. This band, with it's current line-up has been around for about 4 years.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
My Life On Film came from my (Sean J) idea of how cool it would be if you could play all of your memories out in front of you, like a movie. We've never changed the name but we were very close to being called "The Spin Light".
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
Writing is a joint effort, but I'd say most of the ideas come from Mike. A lot of our themes come from every day interactions with people. Family/significant others/ect. I think it's easy to write about your life, so I think our songs will mature while we do.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
Motion City Soundtrack, Jimmy Eat World, Man Overboard, Bayside, and Foo Fighters.
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
I saw Brand New at our local college when I was in high school and that was the moment I wanted to be in a serious band. My Life On Film later played that same stage opening for Panic! At The Disco for 2,500+ people!
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, etc …
A lot of stretches and water. Mike and SG usually head to the van for some singing warm ups where I and John usually try to scare them or prank them.
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
Probably opening for Panic! At The Disco. We sold a TON of merch and it was the biggest crowd we've played to so far.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
Motion City Soundtrack! They were the reason we started the band. Our early stuff had a lot of synth in it! They're just one of the bands that changed the genre.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Thank you so much for checking us out and please follow us on social media to stay in touch! Make sure you check our upcoming shows to see if we'll be playing in your area!
