Hailing from Cagliari, Italy, MPM Producer is a modern musician who produces and mixes his own work. His newest track "VENOM" is a genre bending thrill ride that fuses Italian hip hop, hard rock and punk. "I want to make music, in an original way, because it makes me feel good," explains MPM, "and I want to speak about some things that I don't really like while spitting some anger out."
Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.
Hi and many thanks for this space. MPM Producer is a solo artist project. That means I'm playing all the instruments and doing all the arrangements on the album. I have some collaborators though: Rob Miles is playing the drums, and I have a beautiful sax solo played at the end of the album by Maurizio Floris
For starters, what bands were you a part of prior to MPM Producer?
I've been in a punk rock band called Wallcrush for ten years. That was an awesome experience and we did our best, making three records and touring our beautiful island, Sardinia. However, it was probably not enough to become rockstars...
MPM Producer is quite a new project. I released my first EP in 2020 and I'm releasing the second one in 2021
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed it before?
MPM Producer is a result of a journey. After the previous band, I decided to start a role "behind the scenes", so I built my own studio and I began to create custom productions and make music for different purposes. That was the first name that popped into my mind. After some year, the necessity of making my own music, my own sound, took over again.
The truth is that I was set up already with socials and I didn't want to change my name, but after some thinking I realized it was not a bad idea. When we see "producer" in a stage name, we associate that to an EDM or hip hop artist, or a beatmaker. The idea to keep "Producer" in the name came because I wanted to emphasize the fact that even a rock musician can be a producer of himself in 2021
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
I write my own songs. The project was born after a period of artistic rebirth, that's why "Reborn" is the title of the first EP.
I tend to describe experiences from my personal life that inspired me some thought or feeling. My idea is to make songs that people can consider common experiences. Topics like social media alienation, dissatisfaction with a dayjob, even some love songs.
Make people think it's always a good goal. I hope someone can start thinking differently after hearing songs like "Lives on air". And in this new EP you'll find media brainwashing on people's dreams, feeling blocked, hard moments on quarantine.
MPM Producer is rarely positive, is more about spitting a lot of anger out, but some songs came out in an ironic style.
I think I'll try to explore different states of mind, as I take inspiration from artists exploring the emotions range.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
Fever 333 and Enter Shikari are a big inspiration; maybe with some more urban elements.
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
This is always funny, but to be honest Blink-182 was the reason I felt in love with guitar and pop-punk.
Many bands and music came after that but they're the ones to blame at the beginning of my teens
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect..
I remember tryin to get lonely and do some vocal warming up. It 's been a while though...
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
MPM Producer is a main new project. I wasn't able to plan lives or something like that, so for now I'm focusing on releases only.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
Well, all my heros from the golden age era of punk rock, 90s and early 00s (you know, The Offspring, Sum 41, Green Day, Blink-182 and many more).
It's a feeling between gratefulness and nostalgia I guess
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I encourage everyone to follow me on my socials to stay posted on my activity.
I got cool videos on youtube, I got music on digital stores...choose your favorite!
