Unsigned Spotlight: Mouce

This Orlando native began selling homemade cds and tapes made on a karaoke machine in high school. Shortly after, Mouce started his own record company Low-G Records.

Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.

I am Mouce and I’m a member of the Yodi Nation. We are not a band but more of a loose collective of movers and shakers. Some of us happen to do music.

For starters, what bands were you a part of prior to this?

Wasn’t really in a band but we was in the streets chasing da bands. Honestly I have been rocking with the same people for quite some time. We got a few new family members but for the most part we been locked and loaded.

What’s the origin of your name?

When people ask why they call me Mouce I usually respond by saying cause I get my cheese out da trap. But  to be totally honestly I got my name from one of the homies in detention back in middle school. I guess he called me that because I was not a big guy but I carried weight. Kinda like on the cartoons how the big elephants are always scarred of the little mouse I guess.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

Cardi B’s writers write all my songs. Nah I’m just playing, lol shout out to Cardi tho no hate. I write all my material and yes it does change according to my life. I’ve never been one of those rappers who raps about a bunch of stuff they’ve never seen or done so my music comes from a real personal place most of the time. Now we starting to get a lot of money so it’s only up from here. Luxury raps.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

Every single person making music inspires me but personally I must say 2chainz is a big inspiration. Not just artists inspire me though. Anyone with a story anyone who has overcome all the odds to be successful inspires me. People like Tyler Perry and Steve Harvey who used to live in their car and now are two of the biggest. Anyone who has overcome kept fighting and never gave up inspires me.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

Tupac Amaru Shakur inspired me to make music in the first place. Most of us were probably inspired by him or someone who inspired him. Tupac and my older brother Greg inspired me to start making music in the first place.

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …

Smoke a hundred blunts.

What has been the biggest highlight of your career so far?

I’ve accomplished a lot but I also feel I ain’t done nothing yet.

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

Rick James. Brah had dem hoes and also I heard bro had a sick crossover. So if anyone ever challenged us to a 3 on 3 we in there.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Live life to da fullest it’s shorter than you think... And oh yea follow me on da gram @moucegram and sub my YouTube www.youtube.com/moucetraptube .
