Miss Christine: Confident, catchy, and queer. Christine Moad had achieved the musician’s dream: Success as an internationally touring bassist and many side gigs back in Nashville. There was just one problem: She was unfulfilled.
Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.
Christine Moad - Bass/Voice/Songwriter
For starters, what bands were you part of prior to this project? How long has this project been around?
I've been playing in bands since I was 12. There are too many to list but some of my favorite artists I've played for are Fawn Larson, Georgia English, and Dinzy. I started performing as Miss Christine in 2010 when I broke up with my first boyfriend and started to write songs.
What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
My songs are about relationships, identity, politics, gender, mindfulness, and much more. The topics have changed and will continue to change over time as I move to different places. I'm really influenced by the places I live and travel to.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
I'm really inspired by The Police, Regina Spektor, and No Doubt.
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
I wasn't inspired by a particular band/artist but instead a movie. When I was in middle school, I saw the movie School of Rock and instantly knew I needed to form a band.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, etc …
I usually go into the van for about thirty minutes to do vocal warmups and get in the zone.
What has been the biggest highlight of you music career so far?
When a shy woman approached me after a show and told me she decided to come out because she read my bio and wanted to hear my music. During my set, I had watched her jumping around and having so much fun. I gave her a CD and she started to cry. It was so powerful to see someone who was initially timid talking with me, open up and be so honest and vulnerable.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
Jefferson Airplane because Grace Slick is amazing. Liz Phair because she's badass. The Weeks because I dig their songs and sound.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Stay tuned for my next single, "Nightmare in the Daytime" which will be released on 5/8 and check out www.misschristinemusic.com to find out about more upcoming releases. Thank you for having me and showcasing original artists!
