For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Major Moment? How long has the band been around?
Major Moment has been around for a bit over a year, but band members have been a part of or played as session musicians with a variety of acts in the past, such as: Anna Madsen, Elsewhere, Horns Become Halos, etc.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
Every person have gone through some moments they can call major ones. Wedding, birth of a child, writing a song, the first kiss, the last goodbye, graduating from school, a walk on the Moon’s surface… the list is extensive. The name is unique in a way that it means something personal and special to everyone, but there is still a sense of
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
We write and perform all our songs ourselves. Regardless of who’s the originator of a song idea, we all participate in its creation, not only by delivering our parts, but also by contributing to the overall composition / vibe. The topics are inspired by our life experiences, whether it’s a troubled relationship, a feeling of loneliness and depression, or the will to accomplish our dreams, despite the odds.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
The bands we share the stage with are inspiring, the bands we go see perform are inspiring, and of course there are personal inspirations. Linkin Park, 30 Seconds To Mars, Muse, Audioslave, Depeche Mode, U2, Duran Duran, etc.
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
The tragic death of Chris Cornell and especially Chester Bennington was a catalyst for us to start focusing on our music, and dedicate ourselves to it full-time.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …
I guess the biggest preparation secret for the show is relaxing. No matter how well you know your parts, they won’t sound good if you’re all stiff or just not in the right mood to play, so we try to keep all our outside world problems outside, get in the zone, and deliver the best show we can… while actually enjoying it!
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
We’ve had a couple. Sharing the stage with some of the bands we look up to; definitely releasing our debut EP (out on September 7th); Chester’s family and friends noticing and sharing our tribute; us playing a gig on two different continents simultaneously. Impossible, you say? Not for us…
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
Papa Roach, Linkin Park, Keane, Muse, etc. All those bands that inspired out music and fit the genre of the music we play.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
