Unsigned Spotlight: Lights Go Down

Frontman & founding member of Hawk Nelson, Jason Dunn left the band in 2012 due to creative differences. Now he's back in high gear, bringing back the pop punk sound he is known for with his new band, Lights Go Down. Influenced by bands like New Found Glory, Set Your Goals and Neck Deep, LGD is getting ready to take over the pop punk scene when they release their debut EP, "We Kept It Alive".

Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.

Jason Dunn - vocals/guitar
Enrique Ibanez - guitar
Blake Letellier - bass
Daniel Yakobchuk - drums

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Lights Go Down? How long has the band been around?

1 year; Jason sang in the band Hawk Nelson before LGD

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before? Our name came from a song my old band wrote. We’ve only ever had one name and plan to keep it.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

I am the sole writer of the band. We sing about life - The good, the bad and the ugly.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

1. Set Your Goals 2. Four Year Strong 3. Neck Deep

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

Blink 182

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …

Vocal warm-ups.

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

We’ve never played a show.

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

New Found Glory & All Time Low. They are both great bands and they have a great fan base that we’d love to be introduced to.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

We’re working on our first EP called “We Kept It Alive”.
