LIAR are meticulous of where they want to be as a band, and place their energy into their music and the live shows accordingly.

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to LIAR? How long has the band been around?
LIAR was formed following the end of a band called "Wake The Blind" and its members have been in and out of previous bands before. "However LIAR prides itself on trying to think outside the box and explore new and unique ways of doing the same old things" - Con
The band has been together since early October of 2021.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
The original inspiration for the name came from two of our members (Mitch & Con) previous, unreleased band "LIARS".
"Wanting a fresh start when we all came together, the name was was slightly altered to fit a new era" - Mitch
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
Our main songwriter is our drummer Adam, writing some of the most wild things we've all heard, Mitch will then come along and give his take on the skeleton song until they're happy. Dylan and Con write lyrics and vocals for the song after we all agree on the instrumental. While working together, the both of us are working different things. E.g. Con will write lyrics to the melodies and flows that Dylan thinks are best suited for the track.
At the moment, the things we write about seem to be things that we are most passionate about. A few of our songs are about things or people that drive us crazy while our latest single 'MANIA' is about mental health and how it can push you to dark places.
"I think the subjects that we write about will obviously vary from song to song, but for the most part, the things we are passionate about, give us the most emotion and something to drive our inspiration" - Con
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
Some bands that inspire me are: Thrown, Gojira and even Car Bomb. I like bands that lean into playing guitar wrong and making the craziest sounds. I usually value groove over melody, and approaching guitar from a more rhythmic perspective plays a big hand in the way I write, drawing influence from Latin American drum patterns, creating something you can dance to is the aim of the game” -Adam
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
"It was the split love and appreciation of My Chemical Romance, Killswitch Engage and Escape the Fate that fueled the need for music. I'd listen to those bands everyday after begging my mum to buy me their CD's or to fund them on ITunes. The insane guitar riffs and vocal performances had me hooked to play guitar and ultimately learn how to sing" - Dylan
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …
Once we finished with the Steve Cannatelli coaching program, during the commencement of the band, it was pretty clear to us that without a decent stretch and fun little warm up song before practicing or playing a show, we'd be pretty destroyed afterwards as LIAR puts a lot of effort into our stage presence and movements.
"My pre show ritual is brushing my teeth, singing warm-ups for 15 minutes, screaming warmups for 10, some light exercise to get the blood flowing, light stretches that allow for flexibility and 2 shots of whiskey 20-30 minutes before a set to warm up my vocal folds" - Dylan
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
The biggest highlight for us so far was playing an interstate show within our first year of being a band. This was a huge milestone for LIAR as this was set to be our 4th ever show together.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
Bands that we would love to tour with would simply have to be bands that we all admire and draw inspiration from. In no order, this tour would be an exciting one in our opinion:
LIAR, Alpha Wolf, Motlëy Crüe, Erra
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Our newest single 'MANIA' is out on the 14th of April 2023. This is the proudest we've ever felt about a song, and it's something we put a lot of effort and emotion into. We hope everyone enjoyed our track as much as we do!
