For starters, what bands were you a part of prior to Laylines?
I am still in a Progressive Post Hardcore Band Fire, Said The Albatross and my first band was Dreamsick
What’s the origin of that name?
I'm super into TTRPGs and fantasy where they mention leylines a lot as well as one of my favorite songs by Fear and Loathing in Lost Vegas is “Ley-lines” so It just felt right
What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
Our topics range quite widely from my own musical journey, to my views on politics/philosophy, to a story telling song about kaijus. I want to be able to span a wide area of different themes and sounds so you never know what to expect from us and so our music never goes stale.
What artists are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
Backwordz, Fair To Midland, Notions, Electric Callboy, Lucrecia, Andrés, Origami Button, Bilmuri, Vi Seconds, Shofu, Daylyt, QEW, Cerulean Panda, and More.
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to get into music?
I've been into music for pretty much my whole life, I've been making up my own songs since I was a kid rap battling on online forums but what really got me into metal music and live shows was the local scene here in Michigan. The local scene when I was playing with Dreamsick was so warm and talented. I came up with and played with bands like Sleep Waker and Hollow Front which really drove me to get better.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, etc …
I stay hydrated throughout the day, I listen through the setlist, I do a small stretch and a vocal warm up
What has been the biggest highlight of your career so far?
Getting such a positive reception to my first solo track with Laylines and the very nice reaction I received from Fronzilla
If you could tour with any musical act, past or present, who would they be and why?
I would love to be able to tour with Fair To Midland they were just on another level musically and from all the videos of their live shows that I've watched they would go so crazy live. They made their live show such an experience.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
