Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.
Lavender Fields.
For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Lavender Fields? How long has the band been around?
Lavender Fields has been around for almost 3 years.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
One day back in 2015 I was camping out in Northern California under an old oak tree. Then one morning I woke up after dreaming about lavender fields all night . It wasn't unusual dream and I have never dreamt of anything like this before. I woke up under such a strong impression of lavender fields that I decided to create this project called lavender fields.
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
I write, produce and engineer all of my songs myself. I am very inspired by nature, universal love, spirituality, compassion for animals and humans, peace and unity. So naturally my songs reflect all of these themes. I love Makin joyful music and music that makes people dance. Of course as we grow we change a little bit so my song my change with it but I think the main theme will always be the same.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
I am very inspired by Alice Coltrane, Flying Lotus, electronic bass music, of course Bob Marley and lots of other roots reggae artists.
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
I have been playing classical music since age 4 and a few years ago I decided to start writing my songs. The inspiration is always flowing very abundantly. I am constantly inspired by all kinds of artists. Amongst them are Fleet Foxes, Jah 9, Jimi Hendrix, the doors, Tchaikovsky... I guess all of the music I've been exposed inspired me to make my own music.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, etc …
i love to meditate before a show, stretch my body, do some yoga/breath work exercises and get into the state of flow :)
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
Last year I've toured nationally supporting a great Brooklyn band MoonHooch. It was the first time I got to play large venues and theaters and that was very exciting!
I have also launched a project "Light Up The World" where I plant lavenders in every city I tour. I intent to continue this as long as I tour to eventually plant entire fields of lavenders all over the world 😁
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
flying lotus from the current artists because he inspired me to create experimental electronic music and I admire his work so much.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I make music with an intention to uplift listeners and bring beauty into the world. I am really excited about the mergence of my musical journey and planting lavenders. It feels right. And I constantly discover new meanings of that dream of lavender fields I once had. Making a difference in the world by bringing people positive music and beautifying the planet with more flowers are very rewarding to me.
Currently, I am heading out for my East Coast tour and teaming up with Permaculture designer and educator Edenspore who will be teaching workshops on herbalism, sustainability and permaculture before our shows. together we can not only play music but also bring knowledge to the people, share experiences and help each other grow. I'm also a big fan of sustainable touring practices, recycling, reusing whenever possible.
Thank you!
