Hailing from Florida, Washington, and Peru, King The Kid bring a melting pot of culture and sound to their music. The trio, comprised of Ricky Ficarelli, David Michael Frank, and Jose Mostajo define their style into a culmination of Rock, Pop, Funk, Soul, and Disco. It’s no surprise that this band is already buzzing in 2014. King The Kid currently have a sophomore album with producer Adam Sliger, full US and Canadian tour with the UK Pop/Rock band Hollywood Ending, and a slew of new singles and covers in the works.

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to King The Kid?
Prior to King The Kid, we were all in bands back in our hometowns throughout high school. However, it wasn't until we began pursuing solo careers in music that we ended up living in LA at the same time.
How long has the band been around?
King The Kid launched publicly Dec. 15th, 2012. We spent about three months recording our debut album "Start Something" and preparing to the launch the band in Oregon prior to that.
What's the origin of that name and have you changed the band's name before?
The name King The Kid represents empowering yourself and taking control of your own future. We've never changed the name of the band.
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
The three of us write, record, and produce all our songs together. Our songs are inspired by all aspects of our lives. As we grow as people our music follows based on what's happening around us.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you're making?
We all have such a wide range of musical taste but some of our current favorite artists include: Paramore, The 1975, Foo Fighters, and more.
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
Since we all grew up in different cities we picked up music in different ways. However, classic rock is a common element.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect ...
We honestly don't have any "group rituals" or warm-ups specifically before a show yet. Some good stretching always helps though!
What has been the biggest highlight of the band's career so far?
Our newest single "Last Train" charted in the top 100 on the iTunes Rock Charts for over 24 hours.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
Touring with the Foo Fighters would be a dream come true! They're a huge inspiration musically and as a band in general.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
We have the best relationship with our fans. We love them and have made so many friends throughout the world because of them.
