Unsigned Spotlight: Hell Comes Home

Hailing from Northwest Arkansas, Hell Comes Home came together through Sam Simmons' (vocals) and Nick Stambuck's (guitar) mutual love of metal.

Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.

Sam Simmons – Vocals, Synth

Nick Stambuck – Guitar

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Hell Comes Home? How long has the band been around?

Hell Comes Home marks my first and only band. Nick, on the other hand, has been active in the music scene since his teenage years, playing guitar and bass in various groups. We officially formed Hell Comes Home in June 2024.

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

The name was originally inspired by an Alice Cooper song, but we’ve redefined it to reflect our own meaning and message. The name has remained unchanged since the band’s inception.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

Both Sam and Nick contribute to the songwriting process. Sam primarily handles lyrics and synth composition, while Nick leads on guitar. Sam also assists with guitar and drum writing, and Nick contributes to lyrics and drum arrangements as well. They cover a wide range of themes in their music like addiction, oppression/tyranny, spiritual warfare, emotional trauma, rage, and philosophical thinking; while prioritizing motivational messages such as empowerment, chasing your dreams and taking control of your life. They write about topics they are passionate about and hope people can relate to their music and improve their lives.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

I draw heavily from the MySpace deathcore era, citing bands like Chelsea Grin, Suicide Silence, and early Bring Me The Horizon as major influences. Nick’s inspirations stem from the classic and thrash metal pioneers such as Megadeth, Metallica, and Iron Maiden. Both members share a deep appreciation for As Blood Runs Black and All Shall Perish, which have significantly shaped their sound.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

There wasn’t a single artist or concert that led to their formation. It was born out of a shared passion for the authenticity and raw energy of heavy metal music.

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, etc …

Sam likes to get plenty of fluids including but not limited to water and whiskey and reminds himself why he’s there. Nick takes some time alone to warm up his fingers and get in the zone. Together, they strive to deliver a live energy that’s both intense and unmatched.

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

The band’s most significant milestone to date has been their first festival appearance at Brodazoffa in Wisconsin—a defining moment in their journey.

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

If given the chance to tour with any bands, I would choose the original lineup of Suicide Silence and Chelsea Grin. Nick’s ideal tourmates would be Iron Maiden, Trivium, and Megadeth.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Thanks for checking out our new single, “Don’t Go Gentle Into That Good Night”. We’re just getting started and we’re not stopping until we reach the top!
