The voice of Empty Trail is loud, bellowing deep within the soul of the three-piece Hard Rock band that calls Austin, Texas its home. And Empty Trail wants its voice heard.
Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.
Rick Lambert - Guitar / Vocals
Mason Galaviz - Drums
Jon Yadon - Bass
For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Empty Trail? How long has the band been around?
I (Rick) have been in many acts. Here’s a couple… SledgeLeather, A Good Rogering, One World Revolution..
Mason is from the band Oddfellas
Jon is from Trine and his new band Lift the Curse.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
It’s only ever been Empty Trail. I (Rick) literally stuck with it in LA because I just thought it sounded cool. I was kind of going through a rough time mentally so I felt like my life’s purpose was all messed up and didn’t see a path. So it did feel at the time like an “Empty Trail”
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
I (Rick) write all the music. Most of the themes are kind of an abstract thought on whatever I’m going through at the time. I’ve always been philosophical in my thoughts so many songs are around those topics. Lost love, depression, anger towards the reality of how the world operates, and the newest single is about the sentiment that the “truth” maybe is not always helpful or necessary even though we all want it. I think the topics definitely change as my life changes.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
All the bands that are making headway, it’s usually all the UK acts. Royal Blood, dinosaur pile up, tiger cub, highly suspect, Badflower, reignwolf…
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
I grew up in WI and summer fest was a huge venue with 11 big stages. I definitely fell in love with the thought of music from seeing so many bands play here.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …
A couple little vocal warmups, and maybe a couple jumping jacks haha. Other than that. I just jump in the fire!
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
Getting signed to a label, passing 2 million streams on Spotify, crossing 10 million on YouTube. It’s hard to pick!
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
Metallica would be great. They are METALLICA!
Alice In Chains or Soundgarden would be awesome!
Realistically I’d love to hop on the road with the acts from the previous question.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Thanks for doing this interview! Appreciate you. If anyone finds this and digs the band. We are literally available EVERYWHERE.
