Unsigned Spotlight: Empire Fall

Founding member and lead singer of the politically charged rock band Empire Fall. Bandit, is an 18 year old orphan, from the streets of the most destitute parts of Elderise. He grew up hiding his creativity while privately pouring his emotions into poetry and songs. That is until he met friends and future bandmates, Vera & Mads. These kids have no control, no future, and they’re pissed off. Their message is so powerful that it starts a revolution.

Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.

Bandit: Vocals, programming, production.

Vera Ogmike: Guitars, backing vocals, programming, production.

Mads Nakamura: Drums, backing vocals, programming, production.

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Empire Fall? How long has the band been around?

Bandit: Empire Fall is our first band, and we just started playing this year (2020).

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

Vera: Bandit came up with it one day when he showed up to rehearsal particularly pissed off. We all loved it and went with it.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

Bandit: It’s a collaborative effort. Sometimes it starts with a riff, a loop, a beat, a lyric idea… It really varies a lot. Overall, we’re not scared to talk about negative emotions like anger, sadness, hopelessness. These emotions fuel us, and many other people too. They can be a great source of motivation to accomplish good, positive things. People are scared to tap into it… And we feel like they shouldn’t.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

Bandit: We’re inspired by everything. Pop, Metal, Deathcore, Trap, EDM, Hip Hop, Classical… We hate boxes, codes and rules. Heavy music in general has too many rules. We wanna help change that.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

Bandit: So many, we wouldn’t even know where to start!

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …

Vera: Yeah I guess we all like to workout… Well, Bandit and I do haha, Mads doesn’t care for it one bit. So before the shows we stretch, and also argue a lot with each other, it’s good for our chemistry on stage!

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

Vera: It’s very early, but seeing the reaction of heavy music fans who seem to embrace the unique way we like to do tings has been pretty rad.

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

Vera: Anyone that would take us on tour lol.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Bandit: People can check out our debut EP “ Total Fucking Chaos” that just came out on all steaming platforms. We also have a new single “Darkness Is My Light” dropping December 4th… Then a lot more releases and other stuff next year:)
