Unsigned Spotlight: David Rosen

Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.

David Rosen - Composer/Producer

For starters, what bands were you a part of prior to this?

Just been me all this time. I was also in some comedy-rap groups but that's a different life haha.

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

Just doing it under my own name. I considered having an "artist" name or band name, but I thought since I also compose for films it would make the most sense to just do it under my own name.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

I write all my songs. They are all instrumental though, so there's no topics or themes, but the general sound of my music is all reflective of the music I want to hear. I tend to soak up influences from all my favorite music and then create the kind of music I do as a way of hearing more of what I love.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

As always, The Cure, Nine Inch Nails and Depeche Mode. Also The Raveonettes and a lot of other groups.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

Front 242 is the group that made me think about making music in the first place.

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …

As of now I don't do shows, but I do appearances where I show off my music videos... Usually just making sure I have all my stuff together is the important thing. There's always a ton of stuff I need to have with me.

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

Award-winning music videos. The first ever Virtual Reality music video. Music in films and TV... there's been a lot honestly.

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

I can't really see me doing live shows any time soon but I think if anything maybe Nine Inch Nails.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

You've covered me and my music before many years ago and since it's been a while and I have a new album A Different Kind Of Dream coming out on May 18th, I thought I'd get in touch about possibly a catching up with me type of article. If you're interested I'd love to answer any other questions you might have.
