Unsigned Spotlight: Crypitus

The summer of 2018 will prove to be a continuation of the strength and determination. Crypitus has shown through the last year of their existence and with the release of the demo should help create more opportunities, more fun and more fans for the Homegrown Vermont Metal band.

Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.

Joe: I'm Joe and I play bass.

Pete: I’m Pete, I play guitar

Zach: I play drums

Doug: I’m the Guitar/vocalist for Crypitus

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Crypitus? How long has the band been around?

Joe: Crypitus is the only band I've been in. I think Crypitus has been around for 2 years.

Pete: I was in a short lived project with some friends but we never did any shows or anything.

Zach: I've only been jamming all these years. Crypitus has been together about 2.

Doug: Crypitus has been my only project, I started the framework in 2015 and revamped it with a new line up in 2016

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

Joe: Crypitus is the sound of breaking bones.

Pete: Crypitus is Latin for the sound of bones breaking

Doug: We have always been Crypitus.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?

Joe: Doug writes the songs. Some are about volcanos and others are about danger in the world.

Pete: Doug has written our current songs. They’re about everything. Volcanoes, the state of the world, life.

Doug: I want my content to draw awareness to the sick world we live in.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

Joe: Old Metallica and Primus.

Pete: I’m inspired by The Black Dahlia Murder, Frank Zappa, Plini, Between the Buried and Me

Doug: Death, Dissection, Gojira ect.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

Joe: Not really. I had an opportunity to join a band so I took it because it's fun.

Pete: I always wanted to make music since hearing the Beatles as a kid

Doug: I’ve always wanted to perform.

What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …

Joe: Drink beer.

Pete: A beer for nerves usually.

Doug: Make sure I’m hydrated, I have to prepare myself mentally for the stage, and then I’m ready.

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?

Joe: We did a tour from Canada down to Virginia which was cool.

Pete: We played down in Richmond, Virginia and Brooklyn that was really cool.

Zach: Probably our first time playing in Maine or when we played with Psychostick.

Doug: The Summer of 2018.

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

Joe: I'd tour with our buddy's from An Unction in Braille and Black Absence again. They're cool people with cool music.

Pete: Frank Zappa would have been awesome to tour with.

Zach: Death. I like to think we'd make Chuck proud

Doug: I’d love to tour with the Ice Giant dudes soon!

Is there anything else you would like to add?
