For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Crow Country Outlaw? How long has the band been around?
Sebastian: I were a part of a band called Sixsin a couple of years prior to Crow.
Mattias: Me and Adam are a part of a folkpunk band called Black Anemone additionally to Crow Country Outlaw.
Adam: What Matty says. We split our time between Black Anemone and Crow.
Poods: I used to play in a band called Where’s Joey before Crow.
Crow Country Outlaw has been around for about 3 years, going on 4. We started jamming together around the end of 2013.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
The origin of the name is a long trail of thought that in the end resulted in a combination of words that tied us four together. Nothing more, nothing less. The name has never been changed.
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
Most of the song is written by Sebastian: The topics move through personal experiences in my life, such as displayed in the songs ’’Lay Your Love on Me’’ and ’’Harms Way’’, and end somewhere in a political swamp with the song ’’Devils Grass Blues’’.
I am currently writing new material, and some new topics have been introduced such as a more ’’global approach’’ and ’’much needed changes’’. It will be more clarified once the songs are out, for now I don’t want to spoil anything.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
Sebastian: I’m currently listening to early Oasis and bands like Rancid and Besserbitch.
Adam: The Ark, Beyoncé, Cobus Potgieter and Thomas Stenström.
Mattias: Rancid is at the moment a major influence for me.
Poods: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jack White and Rolling Stones.
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
We have some common bands that binds us together like Guns N Roses, Kiss, and Green Day that got us into playing music and forming our own bands early on.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …
It varies with every show. Sometimes we like to take a stroll through the city we’re playing in just to get some kind of vibe and experience the local culture, and other times we try to get pumped by talking each other up.
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
When we did our first long-time tour through Poland, Slovakia and Chez Republic last winter (Thanks to Lukas and everyone at Birdrain Agency for that!). Maybe the release of our first album comes in at a shared first place with that experience.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
Sebastian: I think I would have wanted to tour with The Beatles. Because it is The Beatles.
Mattias: Rancid. Major influence, great energy onstage and I love their music.
Adam: Queen or The Clifftons. It would have been a crazy experience watching Freddie Mercury in action.
Poods: Jack White would have been a blast to go on tour with. Because I think that I would have gotten some major inspiration just from watching him onstage and hanging around his mentality.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
We would like to show our gratitude to our friends, fans and families who have been there through thick and thin during this roller coaster of a ride; We love you guys!
Also we are currently writing on our next album so stay updated through our website (crowcountryoutlaw.com) for news and we look forward to meet and greet all of you on our upcoming shows!
