Come and Rest is a four piece metalcore band hailing from Atlanta, Georgia that formed in 2011. The name comes from a bible verse but was quickly morphed into a statement known as a safe haven for their fans to express themselves. The band aims to be the voice of their listeners and to encourage one another to follow the voice inside their heads.

For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Come and Rest? How long has the band been around?
Prior to Come and Rest, I was in a band called The Flight of Icarus. Mitchell and Josh were in a band called a Love Not Lost, and this is Daniels first band. Come and Rest has been a band since late 2011.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
We have often thought of changing the name, but just decided to stick with it. The name is the brainchild of Mitchell and Daniel. We were at a Wendy’s after practice and Daniel had a bible verse he really liked. After much debate and bad, really bad band names were thrown around we came up with come and rest. Over the years the name has morphed into more of a safe haven for us and others to express themselves, to be honest and let go of whatever is plaguing you.
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
Daniel writes a good chunk of the music. He brings an idea to the table and we all dissect it. Mitchell and I work on song structure. We really take song structure very serious; everything in a song has to have purpose. I handle all the lyrics for the band. I can be very visceral, and that extends to my songwriting. Whatever I am feeling at the time, I put to paper. With BLACKLIST, I was going through a rough time, just being in my own skin. I was angry. So anger is what I portrayed in my voice and my lyrics.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
I’m a huge fan of the dark pop musicians that have been popping up recently. Bands like, The Neighborhood, The 1975, Lorde, The Weekend. They marry the visuals and the music. It’s appropriate to do in this digital age we live in. We also take inspiration from European metalcore. They are risk takers. Bands like While She Sleeps, Architects, Bring Me The Horizon, Heart in Hand to name a few.
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
Underoath. 06 warped tour.
What do you do to prepare for a show?
Nothing to crazy, I do some stretching; jumping jacks just to get the blood flowing. I like to have a moment to myself before we play, kinda go away from the noise just to get into the right mindset.
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
For me is getting to release this album BLACKLIST. So proud of this material, can’t wait to share this with everyone. MAY 12TH can’t come soon enough!
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
Past, Underoath. Such a huge reason why I'm in music. Present, Architects, Northlane, While She Sleeps, Bring Me The Horizon. I could keep going but it would take a while!
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Thanks to who ever is reading this. You mean so much to us. Make sure to pick up our album BLACKLIST on May 12th!
