Unsigned Spotlight: Circadia

Circadia is an electronic/pop rock band Willoughby, OH.

Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.

Nathan James - Everything

I am a solo artist, and do all of my music and writing myself. I do hire other musicians to perform with me live.

For starters, what bands were you in prior to Circadia? How long has the band been around?

Circadia's full length album Seeking Completion came out 11.8.2019 and is doing rather well now. Circadia has only existed since 2018 really. I used to be the lead singer for an Alternative Rock band called Nathan James & The Scarlet Thread.

What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?

Circadia comes from the concept of a Circadian which is a 24 hour life cycle… I came up with the name to represent a place of life cycles and purpose.

Who writes your songs?

I do, I've been writing music for over 20 years…. I have countless songs, and picked what I thought were the best 11 for this project. What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time? Overarching themes specifically for our current record is Unconditional Love and Looking for completion. Completion isn't found in your job, your status, how much money you have etc… but is found when unconditional love takes place actively in your life and is expressed to those around you.

What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?

Owl City, Chvrches, Lights, The Foo Fighters, Skillet and more.

Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?

John Cooper and Brent Smith both have been my music heros for years! They definitely hold much inspiration for my music.

What do you do to prepare for a show?

Vocal warm ups, a little exercise to get loose, practice my songs as much as possible before hand.

What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far? Gaining fans all over the world, not just the US. Its a huge blessing to know that there are many different people groups and ethnicities enjoying the music I create!

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?

Earth Wind & Fire, because they to me are one of the best live performers ever lived! Skillet and Shinedown because I'm a huge fan of both! And Chvrches.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Circadia will be performing a To Write Love On Her Arms benefit concert on 6.5.21! More details to come soon… stay tuned!
