Desert Dream // Noir Scene from Brooklyn, NY.
Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.
I’m the singer/songwriter and guitarist and am joined by Robert Irish on lead guitar and Edi Hagon on drums, percussion and synth.
How long has the band been around?
We formed in 2019 in Brooklyn, New York, although we all hail from down under, Sydney Australia.
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
I do. My debut album, Almoon, is a collection of introspective anti-love songs inspired by desert dreams and old western and noir films. These themes are a common influence for me although as time goes on and life evolves, so does my writing.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
Everything from Mazzy Star and The Velvet Underground to old gospel and blues.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, etc …
My band and I spend time together sharing stories and listening to music, usually over a glass of wine or whisky.
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
Recording Almoon at Sonic Youths studio with music legends Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth, Jared Artaud of the Vacant Lots, and Grammy winner Ted Young.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
Gram Parsons would be a wild ride—out with the truckers and the kickers and the cowboy angels.
