For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Carried Weight? How long has the band been around?
We've all been in a couple of bands before but this is the first one we've ever really did something with. We formed in 2011.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
It was the title of of our EP before it was our name. We used to be Save Your Strength for the past couple years but once we changed our line up and decided that we want to take things more seriously we changed our name.
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
I write a majority of the music. I lay out most of it, seth helps fix up the drums and chris helped write some of the lyrics to our EP. Our music is heavy and angry. We talk about being alone, depressed, and hopeless. Our songs are very personal to us and we try our best to express our views on certain topics.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
A big influence for all of us is early Slipknot and most heavy metal bands during that era.
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
Slipknot. Everything they did when they came out is exactly what we aspire to do.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …
Try not to sound like shit.
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
When we played at chain reaction a year ago with our friends Issues and A Memoria Brooded. It's the best feeling ever doing what you love with all your close friends.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
Early Slipknot, Early Linkin Park, The Acacia Strain, A Memoria Brooded, Issues. It would be perfect.
