Please list all of your band members and their roles in the band.
I am Samuel Mirville, the vocalist of the band. We have two guitarist named Mike Hart and Shane McQuerry. Our drummer is Skyler Hammond and our new bassist is Philippe Delage.
For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Cardona? How long has the band been around?
The band has been around for almost three years. The only original member of the band is Mike, we all came from different smaller local bands to be apart of this one.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
Honestly, the person who decided the name for the band is longer in it and we were not in favor of the name in the beginning. But now,we are glad to have a name that can be defined to the music we play.
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
The entire band contributes.Usually we jam together and find things that come together to make something awesome. As for the themes, we like to write a lot about consciousness. Since most bands don't talk about it, it helps to make songs
that have lyrics that stand out.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
vildhjarta, Meshuggah, Heart Of a Coward and Thy Art is Murder. That is between myself and Mike, I can't speak for the others. Haha
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
Not really, I actually don't go to many shows and when I first joined I had only been to one concert. I will say though that watching bands like Structures online really helped my drive to want to go on stage.
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, ect …
We usually as a band only jam once before the show and just relax until we go on. There isn't much preperation to our shows.
What’s the craziest thing that’s happened on stage during one of your shows?
Someone jumped off the stage at one of our shows and took out three people with a falling spin kick. I actually got lost in the moment and forgot to scream my line.
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
Having Vildhjarta's vocalist guest vocal on Seasons. That was our first big connection to a major band and it gave us confidence to continue pushing forward.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
As for me, the one band that I would love to tour with is Slipknot. Even though we aren't in the same genre of music, I love their presence on stage. They have a special connection with their fans that very bands have.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
We finally have a stable line up and we are planning to make 2014.Be looking out for our first full length and our first music video before the end of the year!
