For starters, what bands were you guys a part of prior to Bat House? How long has the band been around?
Marching band. Jazz band. Middle School band. Emmet played the tuba, Ally played oboe, Shane played saxophone, and Pompy was probably doing a terrible job at something. Outside of that, Bat House has been a band for about three years.
What’s the origin of that name and have you changed the band’s name before?
Shane had a house dropped on him once by a bat.
Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs and do you think these topics will change over time?
A bat actually writes all of our songs.
What bands are currently inspiring the music that you’re making?
Palm, And The Kids, Dent, our pals in Boston
Was there a particular band/artist or concert that inspired you to start a band?
Dent at the Pigeon Coop
What do you do to prepare for a show? Any flexing, exercises, etc …
A quick round of Twister.
What has been the biggest highlight of the band’s career so far?
The ability to tour and play a bunch of rad shows without having released a proper record.
If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would they be and why?
Deerhoof, Maps & Atlases, and The Talking Heads because they rock.
